I just watched the season finale of Glee.



What makes them think they even have a chance at first place? You can bet that every other choir in that competition has been rehearsing their numbers for weeks, if not months. Our intrepid heroes arrive in New York, proceed to lark about, then finally write the songs they are to perform the day before the competition. If they are good enough to pull off 12th out of 50 with only one day of "rehearsal", imagine what they'd be like if they actually put some WORK and discipline into their music.

Jesse had it right the other week when he tore Mercedes a new one asking her how much she practiced.

But that doesn't make good TV, and no one wants to see the same songs week after week. But, as a former musician who DID actually put in countless hours of practice to hone my performances, and who got top marks in Solo & Ensemble competitions because of that practice, I just had to get that off my chest.
