Some good-ish news

New plumbing is a joy.

The kitchen sink was finished on Friday. No more leaky taps, no more leak into the walls from the drain pipe. A water line was finally run to the fridge, so we now have ice and water in the door!

The main bathroom was done today. (1) Toilet removed and replaced with a handicapped toilet. Phil got spoiled at his mom's house with the handicapped toilet there. It's higher off the ground, so giants don't sit with their knees around their ears. I, on the other hand, will have some problems, because my feet barely touch the ground when I'm sitting on it. (2) Wall-mounted sink with leaky taps removed and replaced with pedestal sink. Now we can wash our hands with hot water. The hot water tap had been so tempermental that we stopped using it, because you basically had to tighten it with a wrench to stop the dripping.

The sump pump in the cellar has been replaced, so it will automatically turn on and the basement won't flood. The float on the previous pump didn't work correctly.

Still to do (on Wednesday): make the tub faucets not leak. The hot water tap is a fountain when it is open. We have to wrap a rag around it to keep scalding hot water from spraying everywhere from the tap.
