Hmmm, how far to go back.
Shakespeare Retold A "mini-series" of modernizations of 4 of the Bard's biggies: Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, The Taming of the Shrew, A Midsummer Night's Dream. I was impressed with most of them, although things got slightly muddled in Much Ado and Midsummer. Hilights are Shirley Henderson (Moaning Myrtle from the Harry Potter movies) as Kate, the Shrew, and James McAvoy as Macbeth.
Robot Monster - So bad it's bad. An extremely muddled "plot". A "robot" that consists of a man in a gorilla suit with a pulp-scifi space helmet. And, during the irradiation of Earth, stock footage of stop-animation dinosaurs killing each other. WTF?
10 Things I Hate About You - an amusing adaptation of "The Taming of the Shrew"... at least it sort of starts out that way. Features a very young Julia Styles, Heath Ledger, and adultish Joseph Gordon-Levitt. My favorite character, aside from Kat, is Ms Perky, the school counselor who is a frustrated romance novelist.
Watchmen - I haven't read the book. I liked the movie OK, but I'm not a raving fanboy.
Zack and Miri Make a Porno - Seth Rogan, a mostly-nude Jason Mewes, and Traci Lords. What's not to like.
Cold Comfort Farm - A veritable who's who of British character actors, but such a f**king odd story!
Double Indemnity - Wow. Fred MacMurray was actually pretty sexy when he was younger. I loved this movie, which many claim to be the first Film Noir.
The Boondock Saints - this one was recommended by a couple friends at the bar. One of them said, "Willem Dafoe is fucking ugly as a woman." To which I responded, "He's not all that good looking as a man, either." I found this wallow in testosterone to be enjoyable.
Call Me Madam - Rather mediocre, in my opinion. The story is amusing, but the music is mostly 3rd-rate Irving Berlin. Billy De Wolfe proves to be the successor to Eric Blore and Edward Everett Horton as the fussy charge d'affaires. And who knew that George Sanders could sing!
