Talent shows in the South

We had the final day of Fall Festival week today. Free lunch, cake walk, tug of war, talent show. I played my pipes. I didn't play A Grazing Mace Amazing Graze, therefore, I lost. The winner and runner up were women who sang gospel songs. Here in the Heart of Dixie, you have to sing about Jeebuz to win a flippin' talent show.
I got thunderous applause when I played, but during the "applause judging" 45 minutes later, I got lukewarm applause. As a consolation, several people came up to me afterward and told me they really enjoyed my playing.
