We did our usual Friday night trip to the German buffet at Southern Plantation and Gardens (formerly Miss Mary's). Had a blast talking to Sheri and Renate. Stuffed ourselves on pork.
And brought home a kitten.
That's right, we now have another kitten. We think it's female. She showed up at the restaurant last Saturday night. She has a collar and seems like a house cat. Sheri and Renate say that she was sneaking in all the time. Tonight it was raining. The kitten was on the porch of the restaurant, climbing into the window sills and putting the Kitten Charm on full blast. When we were done and leaving, we stopped to hold the kitten, see if we could determine its sex, since we really only want males. But it was just so damned cute, and no one had come looking for it at all.
We got her home and took her into the main bathroom. I put her in the litter box, but she didn't need to use it. She got out and sniffed everything in the bathroom for five minutes. She got a drink, climbed in the litter box, sniffed, climbed out, sniffed around the floor, went back to the water bowl, lather, rinse, repeat. After about 15 minutes the boys came scratching at the door, so we let them in. Komori was the first one in. She saw them and flattened her ears back and hunkered down in my lap. Komori hissed and she started growling. Komori backed off and left the bathroom like the grumpy curmudgeon that he is. Taz was fascinated. I guess getting him neutered 2 weeks ago really calmed him down. The kitten that was so wild 6 months ago wasn't upset or anything. He wanted to be friends with her, but she wasn't ready for that. Taz actually looked perplexed as to why she was making such a fuss. Maybe he's more willing to be friends since he's only 7 months old. We both stayed in the bathroom with them all for about a half hour, then Phil left the bathroom. I stayed another 15 minutes, by which time the kitten was playing with my shoes and socks which I had taken off. I got up, shooed the boys away from the door and closed her in the bathroom. We're deciding right now if we want to let her into the rest of the house yet.
Now we have to get up early Saturday morning to see if it's our vet's Saturday at the office.
