I got shocking news at Pipe Band practice Monday night: The
Alabama Highland Games will happen this year after all, complete with judges for piping!
The last I'd heard, they weren't even sure that they had enough money, coordinators and interest in the Games this year. The old coordinators were burnt out, so they got some fresh blood evidently this year. One of our pipers who is in the St. Andrews Society has been booking judges for us. And these are evidently thoroughly qualified judges. I can't believe any judges weren't booked. We have not had pipe competition at the Games since I started playing.
Now I have to work up a competition piece. Oy. My playing sucks, and I have not been practicing at all.
