I'm so tired.

I went to my doctor on Friday because my sinus stuff has been lingering for a couple weeks now. He looked in my ears and down my throat, and prescribed his usuals (Allegra, singulair, bidex/mucinex) but NOT antibiotics. I'm glad doctors are being more careful about prescribing antibiotics. The way they'd been giving it out like candy over the past couple of decades has resulted in resistant strains of bacterial infections. (If people took the whole series of doses, maybe this wouldn't happen.) Still, antibiotics are useless for viruses like colds, flu, or for things like allergies. Even if he'd given it to you, it would have done nothing more than have a placebo effect.

Very true. And usually, that's all I have. However, they are effective against strep, which is usually why they are prescribed for colds. My doc didn't do a strep culture, so I guess he didn't have any suspicion of strep from his peek down my throat.

New drug I love love love so very much. My asthma has been acting up since I did a housecleaning at elderly aunt's home two weekends back and have had a NASTY post nasal drip happening. Doctor gave me Astelin (azelastine HCl) this afternoon. Good stuff. Way good stuff.
