After 3 months? I think? Somewhere in there I’ve gotten my Vista server working once again! It came down to my lack of knowledge in IP v6 and now that I’ve figured that shit out it seems to be working. I’ll know for sure if it keeps working like this for the next 24 hours.
For those that want to know, it was dual homed and it wasn’t responding to requests on the external NIC when the internal NIC was enabled. I had all the priority metrics set for the IP v4 but I didn’t even think about that fact my internal NIC also ran an IP v6 stack and that metric also needed to be set.
Also I still think there are some bugs in the network stack for Vista. Why would it not respond on the same NIC that it got the call from? I’d think that should be mandatory.
So with that geek noise out of the way,
http://www.calamari-democracy.com/ is back on line and reachable. Now the thing that has alluded me for like 4 years, what to do with it? I’ve got some rather cool new web building toys I might start playing with a few things and see what comes out of it.
I never have felt like I needed to be a web developer, but I feel that I should develop something to show the world that I can do so. Personally my love still lives in hardware and kernel development. Managed code makes me feel a little dirty. :P I think I have been hanging around with the Devs too much again.
The weekend came and passed, I got really hammered and watched Blue Velvet with Joe, it was a great time. I wonder what they are showing this weekend at Central Cinema? I was asked to step out of the weekend raid to make room for another. So I have a Saturday night free to do what I wish with once more. Or maybe I’ll stay in and just raid with the rest of the guild for once.
I had inspiration last night to write a new book. “How to be the best social, antisocial you know! And other great tips to avoiding everyone.”
I think it would sell well…through the web.
