thinking of joining yet another bandwagon

If you know much about me, you probably know that I'm a huge music dork with my own very peculiar tastes and an extensive collection. I have lost track of how many CDs I own, but it's over a thousand at this point, and I think that's really the point where you stop counting and start going, "what the hell kind of moron are you?," but I really do enjoy all this music. Anyway, for a long time now I've resisted the lure of the iPod because it doesn't support music formats I want to listen to, or so I thought. See, I take all of my CDs and archive them away on my computer in a compressed raw format-the files are huge, but they literally sound identical to the CDs they came from, and I can then do some computer magic and turn them into mp3s and other formats pretty conveniently. I just discovered today that I can relatively easily turn my music into iPod-compatable .m4a files that sound just as good as the other compressed format I've been using... and now I've got this crazy idea that I should get one of those 4GB nanos.

I should probably resist the urge to run to the Apple store but I know I'm not going to.
