So first things first: ariadnes_string wrote a gorgeous, intense sequel to In Any Tongue called With Our Arms Unbound that all Eagle fans need to read because oh my heart.
They did not kiss. Esca would not even have called it an embrace. It was an urgent, ungentle laying on of hands. Esca ran his fingers along Marcus’s ribs, pushed them through his hair-half to check for injuries, half to assure himself that they both were still alive. Marcus did the same, his palms warm through Esca’s damp tunic, calloused and rough along his face.
They crushed closer, Marcus’s jaw cracking painfully against Esca’s cheekbone, his heart beating hard enough Esca could feel it in his own chest.
“I am free,” Esca said, almost growled. “But I am yours.”
“I, too.” Marcus’s voice was a thread of sound. “Free as the unmoored ship is free. Honor paid or honor lost, I cannot tell. But I am yours.”
I can't even begin to put into words what this story did to me. Go read all her stories and tell her to always write because she is amazing.
And this is the second of the Fanmixes That Would Not Be. It's Marcus and Esca and their journey to Spain to raise horses, as per the alternate ending that makes my soul happy. Despite the fact that no one's going to write a story about it, I had fun making it. Really, any excuse to celebrate Marcus and Esca's love through music. This is the only fandom where I've made so many fanmixes for one pairing. Jesus.
