You Can't Describe What's In Your Mind.

So between the online stress of the last few days and my job ramping up the workload, I am burnt out. At this point, all I can do is watch TV and make clappy hands at nice things and frowny faces at not-so-nice things; anything more than that is beyond my capability. It's bad enough that I'm taking tomorrow off because I really think I'm going to have a breakdown of some sort if I have to face another day of working on not enough food and too little sleep.

So I am making lists and posting music. It stops me from stabbing people in the face in anger.

Things I love:

  • that feeling you get when you just step out of a hot shower and you're all clean and soft and relaxed.
  • my wee tabby who curls up against me and rests his face on his paws because he's soooooo tired.
  • habibi.
  • lentil soup for lunch. That I helped make. Mmmmm, peppery.
  • my latchwork kit. There is something so intensely satisfying about separating the colors, figuring out which symbol is which color, and putting it all together so it turns into a real picture.
  • this exchange:

    Jen: :xxxxxxxxx
Me: HELLO, PAPA, COME SIT ON MY FACE. :xxxx I mean. How cute was he?
Jen: *dies* This is why I email you things like this. <333333333333333333!

  • Dr. Who. Can we just have episodes where it is him and River bickering endlessly like an old married couple while Amy watches with amusement and gossips with River about Eleven? Because I would love that. (Also homfg CREEPY ANGELS ARE CREEPY. I am never getting to sleep tonight.)
  • my hot girlcrush.
  • all of you guys. ♥

    Things I miss:

  • my dad speaking Arabic and Hindi.
  • my mom's egg curry. Seriously, you guys, it's better than restaurant quality, and I'm not just saying that because I am biased toward her cooking. It is really that good.
  • the brother doing the robot bhangra. (You really had to be there for that. No one outside the family gets it.)
  • drinking tea with my mom and talking about all the stupid stuff we did as kids and laughing until we're crying. God, I wanna go to Toronto for a week-long visit now. I miss my family, you guys.

And music for thems that want it. The brother is into all sorts of music that makes me happy in my soul, so here are a few random singles.

Gotye - Distinctive Sound (I am kind of in love with Gotye and his brand of sampled, electronic pop madness. I want all his albums and I cannot find them anywhere in Canada. Release them in North America, Gotye! I will buy them all and listen to them on repeat forever!)

Psapp - Cosy in the Rocket (she is my new favorite. I should probably stop using her stuff in all my fanmixes)

Sporto Kantes - Whistle (ridiculously catchy)

    A Hawk & A Handsaw - Ihabibi

Ace Frehley - New York Groove (yeah, you read that right. It's awesome, listen to it)

    Addys d'Mercedes - Afro d'Mercedes

Amanda Jenssen - Do You Love Me (oh God, this song)

Jungle Brothers - Down With the Jbeez (ft. Black Eyed Peas)

Boney M - Rivers of Babylon (I love this song more than I have ever loved any song in my life. It has my entire childhood wrapped up in it. We used to play it every Christmas and I miss this group more than I can ever say)

Yann Tiersen - Les Retrouveilles (for Jen because she loves songs like this)

Tito Puente - Run Kan Kan (I dare you not to dance along to this song)

Alton Ellis & Tupac - Nothin' Like Rocksteady (I am not the world's biggest Tupac fan, but I love him forever for a) making me briefly nostalgic for the '90s, an era that I loathe with particular intensity for the sheer amount of trauma that our family went through during that time, and b) cracking me the hell up through most of it. You were truly the greatest, Tupac)

Macire Sylla - Perenperen (the brother and I love the Putumayo series a lot. This song is my favorite off the African Party CD)

DJ Rekah - Teri Sadi (as my brother says, "Hot chutney dancing!" Impossible to not shake your ass along to)

    Bearbot - Technolocrips (ft. Feist)

Right, I'm going to go watch some more TV and then crawl into bed at some point. Ten hours of sleep, here I come! Eventually.
  • moosic, oh my life!
