Today was completely and utterly clownshoes. As I told Cee and Danny, the only reason I didn't belltower the entire goddamn place was because I had Hank on my iPod. He does a lot to calm me down when I'm raging.
So instead of ranting and bringing myself down, I'm posting music for thems wot want it. This is somewhat of an Archer/Pike playlist, but mostly just songs that have been making my soul happy in the last few weeks. Some of them, I've posted before, but the links have probably expired, so I thought I'd post them again.
Just to note, there are a lot of K-Os and Sarah Slean songs in this mix because a) I love them so much, and b) their music did a lot for me when I was writing, especially when writing Pike/Archer.
David Usher - Kill the Lights (ft. Marie Mai)
And kill the lights cause they're blinding me
I've been watching all the stars go by
Devil takes my hand
And now they've seen our blackest hearts
I love everything he's ever done and have since the '90s. Oh, David, how do you keep getting better with age?
Kris Allen - Falling Slowly (breaks my heart EVERY TIME) and How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) (totally all about Pike/Archer in my head)
I don't even care if you mock me for these songs because Kris has a gorgeous voice and these songs just make me happy.
K-Os - Sunday Morning, Born to Run, and Valhalla
K-Os makes some of the best music out there, so if you haven't already discovered him, what are you waiting for?! Also, if you recognize any story titles in these songs, well, now you know where I get them from. I am incapable of being original when it comes to titles, people. Don't judge me!
George Thorogood & The Destroyers - Who Do You Love (Tom Rothrock Remix), One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer, and Who Do You Love (studio version)
Look, it is my own personal canon that Archer loved the shit out of Thorogood and got George hooked on him. I am equally certain that George blasted If You Don't Start Drinkin' (I'm Gonna Leave) in the dorm whenever Pike refused to go to the bar just to aggravate the shit out of him, and thus, Pike still groans whenever Archer plays Thorogood because it reminds him of headaches and George's puppy face and wretched hangovers the morning after.
Imogen Heap - Daylight Robbery
Excess
Is the new moderation
Get dressed up
To the power of ten
Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of Jim. I imagine him skydiving with a beatific smile on his face because he's where he wants to be: right on the edge of danger, flying into a new adventure.
Queen - Somebody to Love, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy
Really, I just love Queen a lot. Their music informed much of my teenage life and taught me to really love theatrics and stage presence in rock. Plus, Freddie had such a gorgeous voice that I can't resist them.
Justice - DVNO
No need to ask my name
To figure out how cool I am
If Archer ever had a theme song, this might be it.
Sarah Slean - Please Be Good to Me, Me, I'm A Thief, Before Your Time, Your Wish Is My Wish, Duncan, and Twin Moon
Her music gets me right in the heart. She's got the most beautiful voice and these sad, gorgeous lyrics that make me want to lie on the grass and watch the universe go by.
The Be Good Tanyas - The Littlest Birds
Well, I love you so dearly, I love you so clearly
Wake you up in the mornin' so early
Just to tell you I got the wanderin' blues
I got the wanderin' blues
My brother had been urging me for years to listen to the Be Good Tanyas, so I finally did. This song got me into their music and I have never regretted it. (Also, a total Kirk/McCoy song in my head.)
The Kills - Fried My Little Brains
Got six troubles, on my back
Like six little milk teeth, all gone bad
Won't move over, won't get gone
Won't move over
One of those songs that gets into your head and won't leave you alone. Also, the guitars are sex.
The Arcade Fire - Keep the Car Running
If some night I don’t come home,
Please don’t think I’ve left you alone.
I wasn't actually very impressed with Arcade Fire's newest album, but I love this song so much. Go figure.
The Black Keys - Strange Desire
I don't wanna go to hell, but if I do
It'll be 'cause of you
Kirk and McCoy's relationship in two lines. How perfect is that?
Speaking of Archer, look at this GQ BAMF!
HAI, ADMIRAL, MAY I PLEASE SIT ON YOUR LAP, SIR?
N'awwww, puppy! :D
Hottest thing ever. Especially T'Pol looking all badass and sexass back there.
If I ever turn this into an icon, you can bet the keywords are gonna be "future's so bright i gotta wear shades" so I can LAWL FOREVER.
Please tell me that this picture inspired someone to write a crazy-hot threesome (with Porthos safely out of the room) because I need it. Seriously, people, like you would not believe!
That was a lot of music and picspamming, even for me. I've been posting too much in the last few weeks. I think I'm done now.
