Just got back from Vegas, last night, late. We had a longish delay in Charlotte thanks to some thunderstorms, but we made it back in one piece. Vegas was okay, we didn't really do anything Vegasy, which is okay with me. I realized that at this point in my life gambling is a strange concept. Its hard to understand the appeal of just throwing away money. On top of that, I'm a bit of a pessimist, and I dont actually beleive that I would win anything.
Instead, my mom and I traveled around our old neighborhood in Henderson, spent time with my brother, and went out to Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, and drove along the coast of Lake Mead. I'm not sure how I feel about the desert. I like the colors, I think I like the heat, but NEVER seeing true natural green, I think, would bother me. Plus Vegas in itself is shit. It's tacky, there's no culture, and there are a ton of drug addicts and lost dreams just floating around. Our (really nice) hotel was a few miles from the strip, but it was surrounded by strip bars and "adult emporiums." I forget that there are more casinos then just the famous ones. Like, they're everywhere. We were close to one called "Wild Wild West" which boasted rooms for a mere $19.95 a night. I thought that might mean hourly....
But, I apparently have been doing a CSI tour this summer. I went to Miami, I went to Vegas, all I need in New York City, and I'm set.
I think I will head to Blacksburg in the next few days to move out, but the last thing I want to do is sit in a car for four hours.
My grandfather's burial is in Arlington on Monday, and I will head to the beach afterwards until Saturday.
I think we're leaving for Montana on the 7th.
