Digging into the Psion

Ok, so I ended up staring at the Psion and pondering the question of how its power point model compares against the standard build. To do this really requires an assumption, and that is that an at-will power with it's maximum augmentation is comparable to an encounter power of the same level. So before anything else, that assumption required some ( Read more... )

They seem quite comparable, and actually reading over these gives a taste of how the Psion feels different from other controllers.

Those penalties on the Enemy's attacks and defenses are the real wildcard to determine if the Psion's At Wills are equal or better than the Invoker and Wizard. In different circumstances, those penalties are either better or worse than the special effects from their abilities.

I've been considering the same thing, though I think there are two issues. The first is situational utility, and honestly, there's no way to ever compare that out, so I'm ok loading that cart up with handwavium.

The second is rougher, and that is "A secondary stat bonus is worth about what?" - minimally it's probably 2, +1 per tier, but it could easily be 3 or even 4 (with an additional +1 at epic tier), so I'm categorizing it as better than powers that impose a +2/-2 bonus/penalty by enough to matter.
