A promise to keep

I promised her I’d write a little something. Something that she could once again claim as her own and put her stamp all over it. Sometimes it’s so very hard to take yourself from the comfort of the darkness. Lying there warm in twisted sheets the world a dark blank canvas that you can paint with any number of dreams. But soon as the dawn breaks, light floods into the room and you are forced to open your eyes to it. Always squinting at first. Always wishing for a few more minutes in the night. With throbbing head and heavy heart you rise to great it’s light. It’s shines hard into your heart and into your eyes and you realise it’s where your home truly is. The darkness held comfort but the light brings hope.. So with out stretched arms you welcome it in.
