Lowe felt he was being underutilized on the ABC drama and asked to be released from his contract. Stop. Rewind. Play.
Deadline is also reporting that ABC wants to remain in business with Lowe and is talking to him about headlining his own series. ...aaand we all know how well those have worked out.
AND he's wearing a shirt from the Varvatos store that took over CBGB's?! Dude, have you no shame?! [/rant]
I'm glad it's finally over. And he never worked for me in B&S which is mainly the fault of the inexpressable boring Calista Flockhart with whom he had no chemistry at all.
That said: I see good things for him in the future!! *g*
Calista's "style" of acting has become increasingly irritating but I've endured it because I felt the stuff for Rob was just fantastic. And then there are his scenes with Kevin which send me to heaven. *g*
But I sure won't mourn the Senator's passing. I just don't feel ready to get back on the rollercoaster that is Rob Lowe Looks for New Project. LOL!
I like the show but was not as invested in it as I was The West Wing. I could see this happening as Rob's character wa so far removed fom Baitz's original conception. The writers seem to make McCalister either a saint, or as I saw one poster write, a total douchebag.
I do wish that the statement about Rob leaving had been worded differently as we have the same old naysayers and accusations being levelled at Rob leaving. How about if ABC and Rob said "they'd agreed there was no further to go with McCallister." Still, I suppose that wouldn't have stopped them either.
I have been watching Rob's scenes this season and am a little confused about the opinion that he's a douche. If anything, I think the writing for him has been overly effusive, making him practically flawless! In the last episode, I love how Nora tells Kitty she's "nothing BUT guts" and yet from just this season alone she's withheld the truth from Robert at least three times: Diagnosis; bad MRI results; running for office.
Kitty doesn't score very highly in the Has Character or Guts department, IMO, while Robert has been written as not just princely, but principled beyond reality.

If he did say it (or feel it) he's an ass, because the show is not the Robert McCallister Political Hour. Granted, I only
( ... )
My worst fear is that all his detractors will cling to that one comment of his and repeat it endlessly to make their case against him.
We've been through all this before. *sigh*
He is a few years older an hopefully wiser, and will keep his mouth shut from now on. LOL He did on that talk show, last month, that was wise, although he had very little to say about B%S. LOL
But from the start he DID say McCallister was a real person with flaws and struggles and all,and he loved that about McCallister . Well, there is not much left of that guy, so i do understand what he means. Eventually it will be a sorry guy to play as an actor. i think it is a wise decision although i will miss him every monday on my computer LOL
