(nearly) coming home

Well, today marks one week before I get to come home from Rednecksville USA. The work has been getting more interesting, but I still have serious reservations about the attitude of the guy running the show here. Leaving me stuck in a hotel in a strip mall 3 miles away from *anywhere* while he f**** off for the weekend to see some girl? And he had the attitude to tell me it would be too expensive to get me a car as well. Is it just me or is that just a little bit rude?

On the plus side, I did manage to finally get to see downtown Hagerstown today, even if it did mean walking for 3 miles down a major road with no pavement! Well, it was almost worth it; it's just a *wee* bit redneck (think inbred looking people working in the shop talking about how their sister thought she hadn't gotten pregnant again this time) but at least I'm now convinced it does exist and the whole place isn't just a giant sprawling horribleness.

So if I've learnt one thing from this, its that if I come back here, they gotta say yes to me getting a car before I agree to it. Silly really, as there's an awful lot to see round here; the Apalachian trail (longest footpath in North America) crosses about 3 miles down the road, the largest battlefield in the US is just down the road and Washington is an hours drive away. Oh well...

at least I got to watch the South Park vs. Family Guy vs. Islam episode. Way funny!
