Residents' Dormitories

The common area between the two dormitories has been made over into a sort of lounge area. Several sitting areas have been marked out by the use of cheerful rugs and circles of chairs and couches. Low tables are set in the center of each of these areas, and provide a place to set mugs of klah or reading material. A small hearth has been built at the west end of the room. There are never less than two pots of fresh klah simmering over the fire built within.

In the late afternoon, not many people are coming and going in the dormitories. Near the hearth, Essdara stands with Asynnida, chatting quietly with her. Syn is sitting in one of the plush chairs, rubbing at her legs while Dara talks. "Thanks for coming along, Synnie. She's a very nice person, and I think you'll like her, and I appreciate you being willing to meet her." Who she is, Synnie has not been told.

Asynnida glances at Dara, blinking a bit and then nods her head a bit. "Okay..." She says, continuing to rub at her legs and then stretching them out. She then takes to wrinkling her nose a bit. "Who is she, though?"

From the direction of the bowl comes a slight young woman, skinny and short, bundled up in a warm woolly coat and scarf. Her shoulders and head are damp with rain and wetness and, after looking quickly around the room, she makes her way towards the two girls standing by the fire. It may be worth noting that the little figure wears no knot at all. "Hey," she says by way of greeting.

Essdara grins softly to the newcomer. "Hey yourself." She looks to Syn with a grin. "This is Asynnida, the girl I was telling you about. Synnie, this is Roa, an old and dear friend of mine who I very much would like you to know."

Asynnida glances at the new comer as well, blinking a bit then returning her attention to her legs and gently rubbing them again. She peeks up at Dara again, then towards Roa. "Hello..." She says softly, slightly shrinking into her seat.

"Hello," Roa reiterates to Dara and then a small nod to Asynnida. That having been done, she sets herself down on a nearby chair, or if there are none, just on the floor and seems not to notice that the one girl as shrunken back a a bit. "I'm pleased to meet you...Synnie?" The last in a question matched with a glance towards Asynnida, checking perhaps, to make sure she's pronounced it right.

Essdara gives Roa a carefully hidden 'See?' look, before turning back. She kneels near the others to form a triangle between them. "Roa, she's helped me a lot since I met her." She says, in a quiet voice. "We lost touch a while recently, but when we talked again, I thought it'd be really nice to introduce you. She's always had a special insight into that side of my life." By being stalked, of course.

Asynnida nods her head a bit and shifts herself, glancing at her legs again and gently rubbing. "You've talked about her before, Dara..." She notes softly, keeping her eyes on her legs, blushing in a shy manner. "It's... Nice to meet you..." She offers in soft voice.

Roa draws up her knees, draping her arms lightly over them so her fingers dangle down, slightly curled. Her head lowers and if she regards Asynnida, it's only out the corner of her eye. "Have you been at Reaches long? This place..." she chuckles softly. "It's a bit of a maze when you're new. Easy to feel lost." In more ways than one.

Essdara smiles a little. "Right, of course I have." She looks over towards Roa with a shrug. "'Course, my comments about her have all been nice, I leave out all the really juicy stuff. Remind me, Syn, to tell you about the best way ever to carry stolen redfruits when you forget to plan ahead..."

Asynnida gives Dara a look again then, nods her head a bit. "I was.. Raised here..." She says softly, shifting herself again. Another glance at Dara and her brow raises in confusion. "Why, Dara?" She asks, her brows soon furrowing.

Roa groans softly and tips her head down, hiding her face in her hands. "Let's...not. Please?" comes the murmured misery from behind her palms. Peering up again she offers, "we could talk about meat waffles instead..."

Essdara winces. "Point." She looks over to Syn, with a faint flush, "I'll tell you later, though." A reassuring smile to the girl. "She gets to spend a lot of her time outside the weyr, though, running back and forth to the Hold. I admit I am a bit jealous, only times I have even left has been with you, Roa, and once with Tavaly to get dresses for that party."

Asynnida blinks a bit, shifting herself once more. "Okay..." She says softly, nodding a bit. "Sometimes farther..." She says softly, "I think you should come with me, once... Dara.. When you can..."

Roa lowers her head so her chin can rest on her knees. "Do you think she'll be able to keep up?" Her gaze moves from Asynnida to Essdara. "No offense, of course."

Essdara shakes her head, "No offense." She agrees. "I think I'll be able to. Though, I guess that's easy to say, never having actually done what Syn does most days. 'Course, she might have to avoid some of the harder climbs with me, I'm probably too clumsy and would fall or something."

Asynnida hms softly, shrugging. "We could go slow..." She says softly, glancing at Dara again. "There's ways to avoid climbing in general... I just, don't avoid it." She offers, glancing at her arm idly. Then, shifting herself again.

"I imagine your duties have you far more fit than the rest of us, then," Roa offers with a tiny smile. Then she quiets, perhaps at a loss for what else to say. Finally, carefully, "Did Dara tell you she's going to be helping me out for a little while?"

Essdara stays quiet now, glancing between the two people next to her. She shifts her position a bit, almost defensively pulling her knees to her chest. She watches Syn carefully to see how she answers.

Asynnida nods her head a bit. "If you don't work out, then, yes..." She says softly, blinking and then glancing at Roa. "No.. I don't believe so..." She offers, "Help with what?" With that, she glances at Dara, then back to Roa.

"Well, I've injured myself and I'm going to need some help attending classes. Dara was kind enough to agree to come to a few with me and help take notes." Roa blinks those large almond eyes, brows lifted a little, as she regards Asynnida quietly.

Essdara nods softly, and doesn't try to hide the excitement in the smile that causes. "I am looking forward to it, it's a great chance to actually learn a few things from the people over in the Caucus. I've always been rather envious of the students..."

And Kia's eyebrows lift as she steps in, head tilted to catch the ongoing conversation. She halts, her brow furrowing a bit, before moving slowly toward the trio. "Evening," she greets the women pleasantly. "What's up?"

Asynnida ohs softly, nodding her head a bit. "I see..." She glances at Dara, smiling. "Good luck then, I guess." A pause and she glances at Roa, "...Sorry that you were hurt.." The runner trails off as Kianda enters and her lips press into a line as she goes mute.

Roa is seated in a chair by the hearth, near Dara and Asynnida. Her legs are drawn up, arms wrapped around her legs, chin resting atop her knees. " I still need one more person..." she muses and then looks up and over as Kianda arrives. "Hello, Kinda," she says by way of greeting. "Do you know Essdara and Asynnida?"

Essdara sits much the same as Roa, the three of them forming a little triangle of chat. She looks over as Kianda approaches, and offers her a slight smile. "We have met a couple times, yes. I hope you are doing well?" She makes a wincing face to Syn. "Fell in the bath. Always worry I'll do the same when I'm in there."

Kianda regards Asynnida with a faintly puzzled look for the girl's reaction to her own entrance, before she looks over at Roa. "Essdara, certainly," she smiles, and chuckles. "And I'm better than well, Dara, though I thank you for the asking." Returning her attention to the goldrider, she comments, "I got the okay. Along with a few other interesting comments I'll have to tell you about later. At the moment, though, I gotta run. Asynnida, well met. Catch you all later." With a brisk nod, she continues on her way.

Asynnida glances at Roa, tilting her head. "Need one more person...? For what?" She asks softly, then, glancing at Kianda before she leaves. She shifts herself then, lets out a small sigh. Glancing at Dara. "You'll be fine..."

"For helping," Roa clarifies as Kianda leaves again, "with classes. But..." her gaze unfocuses and refocusses. "I'm sorry. I'm afraid I must go. It was very nice meeting you, Asynnida. Do let me know if you think of anyone." And she's uncurling and pushing up into a stand.

Essdara offers Roa a wave, "Thanks for stopping by, Roa. See you again soon, most definitely. I'm quite looking forward to all this." A smile to the departing goldrider.

Asynnida nods her head a little bit, keeping herself quiet.
