New Year's Day dinner
It seems we will have money in 2009, but no luck. While shopping for dinner tomorrow, I couldn't find a single damn black-eyed pea anywhere in Jackson. So we'll just have ham and greens (turnip and mustard) and cornbread--maybe something else, I haven't decided yet. Maybe rice? What am I missing, other than the obvious legumes? I'm wondering if I could make some other legumes of some variety. Hm... :)
For the record, I have not cooked ham or greens before. I'm pretty much going to just throw the ham into the oven. I couldn't find a 'real' bone-in ham, so it's boneless and oval. I have salt pork for the greens, and I'll just cook them all up together. (And yes, I know about cleaning greens--which is why I bought mine pre-cleaned. LAZY!)
I think I may need to make dessert too. Hm.
And now I'm hungry.
