Does heartache make you stronger?
Yes and no. Some kinds do, but not others. I know, could I be any more vague?
I've recently had to deal with two kinds of heartache. One, the loss of a dear friend. Her death was a huge blow to me, but it made me fight even harder, and eventually I caught and killed her murderer. Since then, I've been even more determined in my job, to keep this from happening to anyone else I love.
At the same time, I love someone who not only doesn't love me back (at least, I seriously doubt he does), but who, even if he did share my feelings, I could never be with. He's mortal and I'm not, so it's just not possible. And even though we're close friends, there's always that dull throb when I see him, that shadow of what might have been, if only things were different. That kind of heartache doesn't make me one bit stronger.
It just hurts like hell.
