Today begins my 16 day seclusion. I'm the only one in my flat, which is going to be pretty boring. On the other hand, I can finally pump out the Enya without losing serious man-points.
I realized about a week ago that I really need to start travelling. I haven't been off this bloody island yet! So I've booked two trips so far, and I'm browsing flights for more. I've got an 8 day trip to Italy booked in April. I'll be flying in to Rome and flying out of Milan. In between I plan to see one other city, which means I have to decide between Florence and Venice. We'll have to see if I end up going alone...if I end up going with a girl, Venice. I also want to see Pompeii! So much to do.
In January, after exams, I'm going to Ireland for 8 days. I'm flying in to Shannon, on the west coast, and flying out of Dublin, which is on the east coast. I have 4 nights booked at a hostel in Cork, which is pretty cool because most of my family came from Cork county. So I plan to use that time to see the countryside, and of course see the west and south coasts. Then I have two nights booked at a hostel in Kilkenny, which is actually a 16th century castle! I'll post a pic below. Then I end my trip with two nights in Dublin, just enough time to see the city and tour the Guiness brewery.
Other than that, I know I'm going to Holland in March. My mom and sister are going to be there for a music trip, in the Hague. So I'll visit them for a few days, then Amsterdam for a few. Maybe I'll go to Cologne in Germany before and take the train.
I also want to book trips to Greece and Spain, but time and money may become a factor.
Well, this has been a good distraction. I have a couple essays to write in the next couple weeks, we'll see how well I can focus while my cabin fever sets in.
