When I was little, my mother used to sing the same lullaby to me every night. She sang it over and over until I fell asleep. In my adult life, I just kind of forgot about it. When Kai was born I started singing it to him, sort of automatically. The first hundred or so times I sang it, I cried uncontrollably. I was finally able to hold it together but he didn't really seem interested. The other day he asked me to sing him a lullaby and I've been singing it to him for the last few nights. He listens attentively and says "again. again". Last night, he started singing it with me.
