we made it through october.

Last night, lots of people from work (including me) went out for nachos together because we had all made it through October. It was fun... and getting to November was well worth celebrating.

October has been a long month.

There were some highlights, one of which was definitely Harry Reid winning re-election. (Okay, that was on November 2, but trust me when I say that the real work was throughout the month of October!) I'm still so happy about this, and relieved that it's over, that I don't have much else to add.

It was also fun to take a couple of trips to the Bay Area and see some great live music.

There were some hard times this month as well. School was intense, work was intense, and I felt like I was failing in both for a while, which really made my self esteem plummet through the floor.

Also, more importantly and worthy of much more eloquence than I can give, my amazing and warm-hearted grandfather passed away on October 27. My mom was with him in Connecticut, as were many of his other children and grandchildren, but it was very hard to be stranded out here in the west, missing out on the celebration of his very full and wonderful life. In some ways it still doesn't feel as if anything has happened.

I feel sadness for his loss on my own behalf, but more importantly, I feel for my mom.

Either way, we all loved him very much, and we will not forget him. Love you, Grampy.
