There she goes writing about cob houses again...

Cob Houses for Africa: I had a thought this morning about Cob houses (cause I'm weird like that I guess), on why they aren't being built in Africa to help with the lack of housing and loss of entire villages. So, I decided I'd look up if they actually are, and discovered a few interesting links. Seriously, entire villages could be built out of this stuff - nice strong ones. Just the thought that people could have homes and villages again just by using the earth under their feet when they live in nothing but scraps of metal and cloth - it's sad and frustrating. They're beautiful homes with so much character! It's like a hobbit hole or something you'd find in a fantasy novel...

Anyway, I'm rambling, here are the links and some quotes:

"A major reason why this style of home making is not being used to solve the housing crisis in South Africa and create jobs is the negative and misinformed view of these homes as ‘mud huts’; the perception that these are ‘old fashioned’ and a return to the past, rather than a sustainable solution." - The rise of the Cob House
