Falkner was unsure of what to expect since his memories of visiting the secluded area in Ecruteak City had faded into a blur. Adjusting the bag strap on his shoulder (he brought along a thermos of warm tea and snacks), he walked alongside Morty in the fresh, winter air and gazed at the colors of the trees. Before their path, he could see the figure of Bell Tower vault towards the sky.
At Morty's question, Falkner took a moment to gather his thoughts and answer. "Somewhat humbling..." his wondrous gaze had changed to that of realization as he stopped his pace. "Oh! No, I don't mean the leaves! What I meant was... there are times when I've flown over this area from the sky. I only noticed the colors from afar, perhaps tried to recall the memories of visiting before... but gave it no further thought." He pulled his arms into his sleeves, trying to look dignified as he returned his gaze to the branches. "Now that I stand beneath the trees, it is almost as if they give me little choice but to be still and reflect on myself."
Falkner gave his attention back to Morty, looking a bit embarrassed. "Ah, I apologize. Perhaps my answer was rather long. In short, I feel very peaceful." He started walking forward again. "I must thank you again for inviting me, Morty."
It was rather long. Morty couldn't help but make a face halfway through his explanation. His response was totally ... expected though, Morty realized. Something as simple as 'it's nice' or 'it's pretty' just didn't suit Falkner. At the end of his explanation, Morty simply tilted his head with that ever-present smile. "It has that effect, yeah. It's a good place to just .. sit and think. I wonder how it looks from the sky ..."
Morty stopped to look up at the sky just beyond the treetops. "Ha ha, don't thank me; I wanted you to come. I'm just sorry it took so long for this to happen." It was almost Christmas for Ho-oh's sake.
