Not serious...or not?

It was a sunny morning when a certain kid was trotting along the road with an radio in his hands. The speakers were turned on and the kid was dancing happily to the hip-hop tune blasting out of the radio. The quiet street was filled with music.
Yet, a certain old man looking out of his window was not happy that his peace was disturbed. He decided to go out there and give the kid a lesson.
"Young man, turn off that radio of yours right this second," the old man said sternly as he blocked the kid's path.
"Hm...?" The kid could hear the man's request through all the noise, so he said with a smile, "WHAT?"
The old man took a deep breath and on the top of his voice shouted, " YOU! TURN THAT THING OFF! RIGHT NOW!"
"Oh, alright. Sorry 'bout that," the kid said with a sheepish smile. With that, he turned off his radio. The old man did not seem to have accepted the kid's apology. He believed the kid was up to something mischievious, there was no doubt. His reason to support his strong belief was that this kid was smiling. People never apologize sincerely when they are smiling in this old man's eyes. No, those are the ones who are frivolous and insincere. He decided that he would not let the boy go unless he gives out a sincere apology.
So he calls out to the kid who was trotting away behind him.
"YOU! Stand there and give me a real apology!" Shocked, the boy turned around, some curtains of nearby houses swayed.
"Huh? I said I'm sorry already, pops," the kid mumbled with a puzzled smile on his face. Thinking another apology would not hurt, he apologized again.
"Right, I'm sorry for bothering you, Mister. I truely am sorry," he said with a grin, and then attempted to turn away again.
"No! You are not apologizing, young man! You do not seem to understand your fault. Apologize properly and let me see that you know you're wrong!"
The kid, thinking he must have met with some kind of mentally disturbed resident of the neighborhood, took to a jog while the old man cursed the modern frivolity under the whole neighbourhood's watchful eyes.
--------
"Really, you're smiling. So you're just so not serious and haven't heard what I said." "Like, seriously?" "Yes?" "O, god. Do I have to sulk while apologizing in order make you think I'm serious? Like this? --> B| " "..."
--------
I know, sometimes it's just plain silly of people. Or maybe me. : D Poor smiling junkies, so misunderstood.
