It was the music that had led him here; he thought he might find the source somewhere amid these rocks. But there was nothing he could see, but the remnants of gatherings past.
It felt odd, very odd; but nothing in this place felt right to him. Even the other night in the bar... was more like a dream than reality. And now, he was alone again.
He had probably dreamed it after all. Something here had sensed his desires and carved them into life, for a time. It was a gloomy mood that seeped over the young captain as he walked along the beach.

The music that came now was different, strange. It soothed even as it enticed, it beckoned even as it grew ever nearer, and the source seemed to be from the water itself.

Kira stopped at the edge of the water, staring out at the expanse before him. He folded his arms across his chest, his hands clutching the opposite elbows; a chill ran down his spine.
He never let anyone see him like this; never let them see the doubt, the loneliness, the faltering. He couldn't afford to dwell on illusions - he had to find a way back.
But somehow, he couldn't make himself move from this spot.

A figure rose from the waves, not of flesh but in the form of flesh. Neither female nor male, the water within it splashed and roiled, flowing like the sea even if there was only a lake behind it.
It was the source of the song, endlessly sweet and effortlessly beguiling. And it beckoned him closer as it's song promised him everything his deepest, truest heart had ever wished for.
Re: The Covealias_kiraOctober 26 2009, 03:14:25 UTC
Kira stepped forward. "Who are you?" He murmured, although he didn't really expect a verbal answer. This was all some hallucination, a very long and convoluted dream.
And had he ever once been selfish in his life? No - all that he wanted, love, companionship - anything that he ever wanted for himself, he gave up for the sake of his duty.
Re: The Covetraveled_modOctober 26 2009, 14:23:01 UTC
Ah, but it could offer him love, companionship, and a greater duty. He could accomplish so much more, help so many more people, protect and serve the whole world, worlds upon worlds if he followed.
Re: The Covealias_kiraOctober 26 2009, 15:21:10 UTC
"Truly?" He whispered, although unaware of actually speaking; perhaps this was why he was brought here, to be shown this purpose, this place. Beyond just what Soul Society could do, beyond what he could affect by his own will and the resources of his division.
Another step, and then another, reaching a hand toward the mysterious being.
Re: The Covealias_kiraOctober 29 2009, 03:49:33 UTC
Kira followed, of course; he was lost in the song and its promises. He wasn't afraid, he wasn't hesitant - he had long ago vowed that he would not waver in the face of difficult choices or uncertain chances.
But this was driven by something entirely separate, something the man he met in the bar had stirred.

The shinigami captain closed his eyes as the water closed over his head; he wasn't sure why, but he felt a deep sense of peace and well-being come over him.
He did not sense any danger, any threat, he only wanted to sink into that feeling and forget all else.

Kira was surprised by the sudden jerk as he was tugged down farther and farther away from the surface. His arms flailed wildly in the water, legs kicked, but to little avail as he was drawn deeper and deeper.

Water swirls around, grows colder and colder. The light starts to disappear as he's pulled further out to sea. The tentacled creature has a solid hold on its prey.
Re: The Covealias_kiraNovember 2 2009, 05:32:35 UTC
Kira couldn't call for help - couldn't reach anyone; his breath was running out as the surface light drained away. Pinpricks at the edges of his vision as he began to lose consciousness, fighting desperately, pointlessly, against the thing that had caught him.
Or so it looked.

The song grew softer, more lulling.
It just wanted to make him happy, truly happy.

He was loved and cherished. He would be put to the most proper, helpful work that would benefit the most people. And others would love him for this.
The creature stepped back into the waves, beckoning Kira to follow.

Beneath the waters, a more menacing creature makes its inaugural approach.

... long tendrils of a beast, curling about his ankle, soon to loop and snap and drag him into the icy depths of the ocean.
