Crack Wank - Prediction for BSG season 4

Mar 13, 2008 06:57

Let me be clear that this is NOT a spoiler. This twisted little notion has been percolating in my twisted little mind for a while now, and it is based upon nothing but my own suspicions regarding past story elements and a few clips from the promotional trailers which appear to reinforce it. Until Ron Moore proves me wrong, I'll assume I just may be right {which most likely means I'll be proved totally wrong, but not for at least a few more months}.

#1 - Two individuals have been enigmatically identified in the Book of Pythia as playing significant roles in the journey to Earth. The Leader and The Lower Demon.
#2 - The assumption has been that Laura Roslin is The Leader, in no small part because of the prediction that The Leader would suffer a wasting disease and Laura has cancer. I believe this will prove to be the case.
#3 - The prophecy says The Leader would "suffer" from the disease, but it does NOT say that the disease would be the cause of The Leader's death.
#4 - The assumption has been that Sharon is The Lower Demon, but Starbuck is now emerging as being far more integral to all the prophetic mysticsm than Sharon. I believe that Starbuck is The Lower Demon.
#5 - Starbuck claims to have been to Earth and has returned to lead the fleet there.
#6 - Tid bits from the promos imply that Starbuck's "special destiny" may indeed be to lead the fleet to Earth.
#7 - The prophecy states that The Leader dies before the caravan reaches Earth.

My cracked conclusions: Starbuck has become so sold (brainwashed?) into believing in the prophecies and her own destiny, that she will feel compelled to take action to make it all come true. The big problem for her is that Starbuck can not fulfill her destiny until after Laura dies. So, does she sit back and wait patiently for the cancer to run its course? For a time perhaps, as she resists what she's beginning to understand the true nature of her destiny is. Laura's cancer will then actually go back into remission...leading many to completely dismiss the validity of the prophecies, but circumstances will lead Starbuck to conclude that they they must finish the journey to Earth immediately. So in order to make the prophecies come true and fulfill her own destiny, Starbuck will assassinate Laura Roslin, thus explaining why the person who helps lead the fleet to Earth is referred to not as an "angel" or "savior" by Pythia, but rather as a "demon".

"When the time comes for you to commit that horrible sin...don't flinch."

You heard it here first folks. You may have also heard it here last, but we'll see.
