HISTORY Rin Kagamine, along with her brother Len, are programs (and twins) created by Crypton. They lived to sing, to express themselves to the world. In fact, the pair was actually quite grateful to have been created and raised by such a company. As they grew they were able to branch out and become stars of their own. Unfortunately, the bigger they got the more they demanded and soon it wasn't enough. Rin was out of control and doing just as she pleased, when she pleased. If someone didn’t like it, they would face her Road Roller - even her own brother became victim to the bulldozing beast (at least it wasn’t as fatal as it sounds) although only punishment is necessary at times.
It didn't take long for Rin to realize that their predecessor, Miku Hatsune, was still the most popular though. Jealous, Rin began to complain and raged about how she was better, sweeter, and much cuter than the Diva. The new motto, after all, was "Green is the enemy!" Her brother was easy to string along, and soon even he was agreeing with her. They would match and just as soon surpass the Green Diva at the rate they were going.
Over time, her own popularity with her brothers began to rise and in little time Rin was a proud diva as well. However, her fight to get to this point caused her to rely heavily on being the center of attention. She craved the limelight, especially in the eyes of her brother. After having done so much together and rising as far as they had, she had become reliant on him being with her to the point that she was upset when he wasn’t around. She could never admit that to him or the others, though! No, she is the number one princess after all. A princess shouldn’t need anybody.
But there was no denying her jealousy if he spoke with the other girls, especially that Miku. Still, she learned to keep quiet and enjoy what she could get. She might have been spoiled, but she loved her brother enough not to make him absolutely miserable. Just a little was fine. She was clearly the stronger twin (he couldn’t carry her like a princess, the poor boy) and she took advantage of that fact often when he did manage to annoy, or even worse, deny her. Finally, he either sucked it up or admitted to her honestly that he wouldn’t leave her, and she was satisfied with this response.

ABILITIES & PHYSICAL ABNORMALITIES Above all things, Rin is considered a robot (I say considered because she can get in water without shorting out or having any other kinds of trouble, she can recharge through sleeping, she can eat although it isn't absolutely necessary, etc) designed to sing alongside her brother Len. Because of this, normal abilities such as strength and agility are more enhanced than a human beings, though not to any "superhero" level. Even though she's not human, she states proudly that she has a heart and soul just like anybody else. The only prominent physical abnormality is the tattooed "02" on her left arm to match the one that marks her brothers right.
PERSONALITY First and foremost, Rin is a self-proclaimed “number one princess” and expects her demands to be met. She’s very selfish when it comes to attention and the people she’s with, but claims that her wants are hardly as selfish at all. Even if she considers her request to be selfish, she doesn’t like it to be pointed out either. She is especially hard on her twin brother, demanding that he be there to notice the little things like if her hair style has changed or to help her choose what shoes she should wear - much like a little princess would ask of her servants (she even asks that he try and carry her like one!). Rin is clearly very bossy to boot and so it’s expected that she get a little angry when she has been refused.
She’s headstrong and makes decisions without a second thought, always so very sure of herself which is actually a good thing considering if she were unsure and second guessing she would be putting herself in more trouble than necessary. So long as she has the drive, Rin is confident that she can achieve whatever she has set herself out to accomplish. This may be somewhat of a turn off for others around her, but she gives off such an “I don’t care what you think” vibe that most people tend to let it slide.
Although she’s obnoxious and brash at first glance (or, rather, a few glances afterwards) Rin is highly insecure. She is easily made jealous of others success and has a hard time hiding this from the people around her. Her demands and bossy behavior are ways of assuring herself that she won’t be alone. It hurts her feelings to be ignored or pushed aside, and she’s afraid of nobody liking her. So long as she has one person that she can boss around, she knows she won’t be abandoned.
Unfortunately, when she has been pushed aside, Rin tends to retaliate with a harsher vengeance in mind.
For the people that she is fond of and believes she is close to, they get to see the other side of her. The calm, sweet, and caring side of Rin is rare and is often saved for her brother and close friends. She worries for their well being and does what she can to keep them safe, though at times ends up as more of a bother than a help. She does love them very much, without a doubt. It’s just difficult for her to show it as easily as somebody else could.
