more yoga stuff

Still aware of my toe pads.  Still feels weird.

My Ashtanga class  = a lot of sweaty fun.  It's crazy how quickly 90 minutes can go by, especially when those 90 minutes include hauling around and contorting your body.

There were some new faces in class tonight.  One of the newbies was right next to me.  A real sweet heart, but I was a little worried for her when she went into child's pose to rest on our second sun salutation.  All I could think was "lordy child, this is going to be one long ass class for you" but she did well, rested when she needed to and kept going.  that's all one can ask to do.  Some people don't think newbies should be allowed in classes like that, and I've heard about lame policys at some yoga studios where prospective students have to come and watch for weeks on end before actually being allowed to participate.  I think that's hooey.  I mean a brand new student to yoga would get pretty confused in an Ashtanga class, but if they have a basic knowledge of the different poses, they can watch and modify and do perfectly well.  And any yoga instructor worth their salt would teach variations on each pose to give options to their students.

And before I go, one more thing.

There was lots of farting in class last night, which always makes me happy.  For a couple of reasons.
1.  Farting is funny.  Always has been, always will be.  Even when my boyfriend does it.
2.  I'm really relieved that there are people other than me farting.  I'm such a yoga farter.  I mean if you try to hold it in when your all concentrating and holding a pose and twisted around, you might explode if you try to clench one more muscle.  And I'm pretty sure that would be worse than actually farting.  Besides us yoga types are usually trying to fit in all the fiber rich foods we can, so being gassy is kinda the status quo.  So we might be stinky, but our colons are healthy.
3.  It's nice to be in a place where farting is socially acceptable.
