Date: Saturday, 14 September 1999 | Late Afternoon / Early Evening
Characters: Alicia Spinnet, anyone else?
Location: Hogsmeade Park
Status: Public
Summary: Alicia's out for a bit on a beautiful day.
Completion: Incomplete

Alicia had meant to spend Saturday in her flat; she certainly had enough to do.  There were papers to grade, washing up, laundry, and tidying to do.  And that was just for starters.  It hadn't taken her long to get impatient, eyeing the beautiful sunny weather out the windows.  She forced her eyes away, starting with the dishes and laundry.  But by the time those were finished Al was getting restless and knew she couldn't stay in the flat any longer.

She realised there was no point in fighting it, and just after lunch she gave up and headed out.  She tossed the students' papers and a few ink pens (so much more practical and less messy than quills, for grading at any rate) in her bag.  If she was going to be grading papers on a beautiful Saturday, she'd at least do it outside.  And well, if she she shrank her broom and tossed it in the bag and wore her trainers and tracksuit bottoms--just in case--that was no one's business but hers.

Once Alicia got to the park she pulled the blanket out and restored it, taking up a large space beside an old tree.  There were plenty of people, but not so many that it felt crowded.  She glanced around, smiling as she settled down on the blanket, piling the papers beside her and using a Sticking Charm to make sure they wouldn't fly away if the wind suddenly acted up.  She smirked, realising that sounded like one of her students' excuses rather than something a teacher would say.  She idly wondered what they would do if she'd said she couldn't return the assignments because she'd spent all weekend lying about outside.  Probably the students would understand exactly what she meant.  The parents, however, probably not.

So Al just sighed and rolled onto her stomach, starting with the first one in the pile.  Maybe if she got enough done this afternoon she could have a bit of a fly before going home.  At any rate she was well pleased with her idea to work out of doors.  It was so much nicer out here than in her flat.
