Katie took a sip of her pint as she and Liam stood off to the side watching the others play.

"You know, I think pool is really meant to be a spectator sport," she said with a grin. "At least for me, anyway."

"Ah," Liam said with a slow smile "it can be fun. If you're playing with others as rubbish at it as you are. Looks like we're out of luck tonight, love."

Liam cast his eyes in the direction of Stephen. He was standing a bit close to the petite bird, and it looked as though Joshua had been drawn into the conversation. Liam was very curious to know what was going on lately with his youngest brother. The tall bird had gone for another drink, and Liam focused on Katie again.

"What do you feel like getting in to now?"

"Looks like," Katie agreed.

"Getting into?" She raised an eyebrow. "It sounds like you want to be getting into some sort of mischief, there. What did you have in mind?"

"There's always dancing," he said and nudged Katie with his hip. She was a good bit shorter than him, but they'd had no problem working together on the dance floor. Her lip was pulled into a mischievous grin and he cocked an eyebrow in response. "Unless you've got something more exciting in mind?"

Katie shook her head and nudged him back. "The only thing more exciting than dancing is Quidditch," she said, "and I think we'll get hexed if we attempt to play in here."

She took his hand and led him onto the dance floor, molding her body to his as the music pulsed around them.

Katie took his hand and led him to the dance floor. He liked a woman who knew what she wanted. The song was fast and the bass vibrated in his chest. They began moving in rhythm, and he smirked down at her. There was no way she could hear him over the thump of the music, so he leaned down closer to her ear.

"What is a sexy woman like yourself always out alone for? Any bloke would see what an attractive and fun bird you are, I'm surprised they aren't standing in line. Course they'd have to get through me first, and that isn't likely to happen." He winked at her.

Katie smiled sadly. "I'm good at this stuff," she said, "the flirting and the dancing. The whole mating ritual. Absolute pants at relationships."

Liam saw Katie's smile falter. He wondered if he had said something wrong, but then, that wasn't usually his style. Most of the time he knew exactly what needed to be said.

He tugged Katie closer. "Oh, now, I find that difficult to believe. You're fun and adventurous. And you seem like a good, sweet bird," he said. Then he winked. "Plus a bit mischievous, too, which is always appreciated."

Katie laughed when he called her 'good' and 'sweet'. "Cheers, Liam," she said, grinning up at him. "And I am mischievous, but then, so are you. So, will you answer your own question, then? What's a sexy bloke like you doing alone? Too many birds, too little time?"

Liam was caught off guard by Katie's question. He'd often wondered the same thing, but he shrugged and grinned at Katie. "Thanks," he said. "Mischief keeps me from being utterly drab and boring," he added.

The song slowed slightly, and he matched his rhythm to the music. "Oh, Miss Katie," he said playfully, "I suppose deep down I'm just a sad romantic at heart. Just haven't found the one." Then he laughed and twirled her around.

Katie giggled as he twirled her around. "That's really sweet, Liam," she said, trying to keep a straight face. "And I suppose you have to test us all out, just to make sure you don't miss her?"

Liam leaned closer to Katie. "And you don't? Test out the lot?"

Katie shook her head. "I've had a few tastes, but nothing like you, I'm sure. See, I thought I'd found the one. But I was wrong."

Liam twirled Katie again and smiled. "Is the silly bloke who wouldn't come out with you tonight?" Liam asked.

Then he winked. "And you've no idea how many tastes I've had," he added playfully. "I bet you and I are evenly matched, yeah? You seem like a girl who's had her share of fun--or am I reading you wrong?"

Liam was rarely wrong. Katie didn't seem like the kind of girl who sat home and waited for blokes to stumble into her flat.

Katie shook her head. "Different bloke."

"I've had my fun, but I think your numbers will vastly exceed my own. Are you in the double digits?" she asked with a grin.

"A different bloke?" he asked. "Well, Miss Bell, I'd say your dance card is almost full then."

He laughed and the song shifted to something slower. Liam felt sweaty and needed something to drink. "I'm thirsty," he said. "Can I buy you a pint? And as for my numbers," he added with a wink, "a real man never kisses and tells."
