After he stormed out of the unhappy lunch with Harry and Hermione on Sunday, Ron spent some time just hanging out at Phoenix Park and then wandering around Hogsmeade, checking out the rest of the town. Like Ottery St. Catchpole, the town near the Burrow, Hogsmeade was a quiet, small town, but being totally magical was a significant difference. The best part of Hogsmeade, he thought, was that there were plenty of people his own age here. While he wandered around, he decided he would have to tell his parents about his upcoming move really soon. It would be better to tell his dad, he thought, rather than his mum or both of them together; his dad would be calmer, he thought, and he just didn't want to watch his mum throw a wobbly about it.
On Monday, during breaks in training, Ron sent an interdepartmental memo to his father, inviting him to have lunch at the Leaky Cauldron on Tuesday. The Leaky seemed like a neutral place, much more neutral, anyway, than the Ministry canteen. At noon on Tuesday, when morning training was done, Ron Floo'd to the Leaky and found a table.
