Kevin was chewing on his own roll when he stopped everything he was doing, staring at his date. Oh.. He started to chew again, very slowly, while he watched for more of her reactions to their food. His cheeks flushed and he rubbed his thigh in an attempt to shake off the nervosity.

She tried everything at least once, sometimes dipping them in the sauce provided, sometimes not. It was clear the things she liked better than others; when it came to food she tended to wear her emotions on her sleeve, so to speak. After a while, though, she tempered her food lust with a measure of better manners and smiled apologetically. "Sorry, I just really love food. Not just, you know, to eat, but to really savor. My mum's is much better at being able to pick out the ingredients just by tasting them, but I still love the challenge of trying to work out what's in a dish. I think I'm a...'foodie'?"

Her expression brightened all the more as she suddenly remembered: "I learned a new game over the weekend! It's called footie, or football. Muggles play it," she added in a more quiet tone. "I played and I was rubbish, but it was so much fun! I would say that I would teach you, but I have a feeling that might be a bit tragic all around."

Kevin's blush darkened as she kept eating and making those very delicious moans. Sounds that were just a delicious as his own food. "Don't worry, I share your love for food. I like to taste food from around the world." he chuckled and shook his head. "Never quite had the opportunity to though. I ate Mexican food once. A co-worker of my father made dinner for a few people and, oh wow. Burritos." He moaned and popped a new shrimp roll into his mouth.

Padma was just in the middle of nodding in agreement when it seemed that Kevin turned the tables on her. Her eyes went wide and she choked a bit on nothing at all. She coughed to clear her throat, but it only made things worse. After several moments of coughing into her napkin, she grabbed her bag and, with a muffled, "Excuse me," jumped up to leave the table. If she could just make it to the Ladies, she would be fine and could use a touch of magic to clear the tickle that lingered in her throat.

All of this she tried to convey in a single apologetic look.

"Are you okay?" Kevin asked, suddenly worried he'd done something wrong or that maybe she was allergic to something and that he had no idea. He watched her leave, possibly towards the Ladies room and all he could do was stare in the general direction she was going to.

It took a little doing, but Padma finally got her breathing under control. She stowed her wand and glared at her expression. Nice. Couldn't have been a bit more dramatic, could you, Pads?

In the meantime, their server came back by the table. He began to clear a few of the empty dishes, but, before he left he glanced toward Kevin and, with a knowing grin, said in perfect English, "Somehow I don't think it was the food that did that, mate."

Padma came back just after the server left and slipped meekly into her chair. "Sorry about that," she almost whispered, her gaze set on a point on the table. "I got something in my throat. I-I'm fine now, though. Sorry."

Kevin really wondered what the server had meant as he left and he bit his lower lip. "Oh good. I was afraid that maybe you were allergic to something that was in your food." his concern for her was greater than any offence he could have felt about her sudden departure from the table. But really, he didn't feel offended at all.

He took her hand and smiled. "You are okay, that's all that matters." he added, kissing her fingertips. Kevin liked doing that. It wasn't a big public display of affection and really, if she had minded she would have tole him before, huh?

Laughing quietly, Padma looked up at Kevin, and, although she was still blushing like mad, she managed to smile at him. "I can't tell you how glad I am that you asked me out. Despite an emergent trip to the 'necessary', I've had a really good time."

Kevin laughed a little and blushed too. "Can I hope you'll accept a second date, then?" he dared ask her, his hopes high that she might accept. After all, she did tell him that she was happy and having fun.

"You can hope," Padma replied, trying very hard not to giggle, "but I think you should actually take it as more like a certainty." She gave the hand holding hers a squeeze. They passed the rest of their dinner with pleasant conversation, even topping things off by splitting a red bean ice cream dish, but soon it was time to leave. It was getting late and they would both have work in the morning. They settled the bill, much to Kevin's argument to the contrary (at which point Padma teased that he could "make it up to her with lots of pretty things") and they left the restaurant.

Walking a short distance to a spot that was secluded enough, they did another side-along back to Hogsmeade. Padma was pleasantly surprised to arrive midway between either domecile and complimented Kevin on his precision, shortly after which she reached up on her toes to hug him, her arms going around his shoulders. Finding herself again close to his ear, she whispered, "I really did have a wonderful time, Kevin. Thank you."

Kevin hugged her back and smelled her hair, nearly moaning at the physical contact. "Padma, it was incredible. Really." he answered, thinking he shouldn't be liking this contact so much. But part of him just didn't listen and as Padma pulled he found his nose stroking her cheek until their lips almost touched.

His breath silently caught in his throat as he made the quickest decision he ever made, praying she wouldn't hate him and he let his lips kiss hers.

Drawing in a small breath, Kevin did that one thing that Padma had been both fearing and expecting all night. Fearing, because she was worried that it might be awful, not necessarily all on his part, and that it might show that they didn't have the sort of physical chemistry that was just as important as an emotional connection. Expecting, because, well, hell! Who wouldn't want to be kissed by a bloke who had lips like that.

She returned the kiss softly at first, a tentative gesture, and then deepened it by degrees, testing both his and her own limits. Her lips parted faintly, but she did no more beyond that. No use in making him think she was some wanton slag, after all. Oh, but he was warm, and she couldn't help but press against him- it was still raining, after all.

Kevin nearly moaned when he felt her so responsive. As soon as she parted her lips, he figured she might actually want more, just like he did. Tentatively he darted his tongue while their lips still touched and he did one of the most daring thing in his life. He stroke her lower lip very gently, wondering if she would pull away or agree to keep deepening it.

A small whimper left Padma when she felt his tongue against her lip, and a shudder ran her length. With a sharp intake of breath, she felt her already fractured will power crumble further, so she leaned her forehead against his before she could do anything terribly stupid. She gave him a tiny, almost shy smile, and murmured, "I think... we should say good night... now."

"Yes we should.." he whispered, half of him agreeing while the other one pretty much wasn't. "Before we.. yeah." Kevin leaning in and kissed her cheek. "I'm sorry if I.. if I offended you, Padma."

"Offended...?" Padma peered at him through the dark and the rain, truly confused. And then she gave a small laugh and pulled him into a hug. "Far from it," she whispered against his ear, her fingers curling into the back of his hair. She had to force herself to take a step back, then, letting go of all but his hand, and smiled up at him, her blush evident even in the darkness. "Owl me? Sometime? So we can do something like this again?"
