For a moment, Padma felt a flash of worry. He trusted her; that meant that it really fell to her to make sure that they had a negative incident-free evening. It gave her pause, but then he took her hand and she thought that everything would be all right. She smiled at him as she turned her hand to twine her fingers in his. "Of course."

They walked through The Leaky Cauldron to the Muggle London street. Parked just at the curb was a black sedan with a lighted sign at its top that read "TAXI" and a band of black and white check all around it. The bored looking driver looked up at them, incredulously at the outset, before he rolled down the window and said, "Patil?"

Padma nodded, her heart pounding in her throat, and then opened the door to the back, like she had seen many people do in similar vehicles on her lunch break. She scooted in enough for Kevin to get in behind her. Once he was safely inside, she had to reach across him to pull the door closed. She felt a little bad for the slightly lost expression on Kevin's face, and did her best to smile reassuringly at him. In a somewhat bored tone, the driver asked, "Where to, love?"

"Tajima-tei, on Leather Lane, please," she replied, blushing a little as she sat up right.

Kevin saw beside Padma in the taxi and almost lost his breath when she reached out over his to close the door. He gave the driver a smile as he quirked his brow at Kevin who leaned close to Padma. "I think this is going to be interesting.." he started then gripped at the seat as the car took off.

Seeing those car-things driving around, but apparently it was quite another to ride in one. Padma gave a little squeak of surprise as they pulled rather quickly away from the curb, and she started so badly that she jumped and reached out for the first thing she could find to steady her. One was the seat's edge...the other was Kevin's leg. After a few turns and weaves in the traffic, Padma began to feel that maybe it wasn't so terrible, although she could definitely see the advantages in Wizard travel.

"Still in one piece," she said quietly to Kevin once she trusted herself to speak. She glanced down at herself and realised where her hand was. She was just about to move it out of a sense of propriety, but the car made one of those stomach jolting turns again and she found that she didn't dare let go.

Kevin felt her hand even though he didn't look at it once. Good thing he was working in one of the most complete Library he could possibly find around. The stuff you could find in those books, and Kevin was very thankful he had found that special spell..

He made note of Apparating them both back home and that he never wanted to see one of those taxi again. But for now, all that seemed important was her hand on his leg and the fact that he liked it. He was fucked.

It was the most fortunate thing in this or any other creation that the taxi ride was mercifully short. Of course, every second in this death cab felt a bit like an eternity, and Padma had to wonder how Muggles suffered through it on a daily basis. Then again, her mind countered, it wasn't as though they had access to the sort of magical transport that they did, so they really never knew the difference. Padma chuckled at herself and shook her head. The strangest sort of revelations came to her at the oddest times. Finally, however, the taxi pulled up to the curb of a building with familiar lettering and stopped.

The driver told them an amount, and Padma pulled out the required bills, plus a few extra, because she understood that in the Muggle world that tipping was expected. The man grinned toothily at her, and she had the sudden sinking sensation that she had probably given him too much. Ah, well. "Cheers, love birds," the man called out to them after they had gotten out, and he quickly pulled away to go after his next fare. Padma looked slowly over at Kevin and gave him a small, awkward smile. "All right?"

Kevin blushed as they stood outside and he looked at her. "Well, it was interesting." he answered, chuckling. "But I did say I trusted you, and I still do." He grabbed her hand and twined their fingers like before, showing her it was okay, even though he'd never want to drive again. "And I also want to see the bill. I'm serious, I had no idea about.. gee I feel incompetent but that doesn't mean you are getting away from letting me pay tonight."

In what was, on closer inspection after the fact, a far too familiar gesture, but Padma leaned close to him and stood on tip-toe to kiss his cheek as she giggled. She leaned away again and gave him an enigmatic smile. "You may have invited me out, but you left the activities in my hands. Since I couldn't exactly tell you where we were going, I couldn't expect you to prepare for everything." She gave his hand a gentle squeeze. "You're not allowed to feel incompetent, merely whisked away by a rare instance of my fancy."

She laughed again, but a knot of worry had again formed in the pit of her stomach. Had she pushed this too far? Really, she wouldn't have minded terribly if they did just turn around and gone back to someplace in the Alley. This way, though... This was rather memorable. Padma looked over at her shoulder at the shop front, which had various pieces of their prepared food on display in a brightly lit window. "Do you like fish?"

"I do like fish." Kevin answered, smirking at her as inwardly he was dancing. She had kissed him! Ah this was such a nice feeling to know he didn't push too far the first time. Her enigmatic smile made him warm inside and he leaned in a little. "And pray tell what else would strike your fancy, Miss Patil?"

Calm and cool, Pads. Don't you dare tell him any more about your 'fancy'.

The evening air suddenly seemed a great deal warmer than it had before, and for a moment Padma felt almost a little dizzy. "That," she said, a little too breathlessly for her inner voice, which was screaming at her to Stop that!, "I think, Mr Entwhistle, shall be for me to know and for you to uncover."

That inner voice threw its hands up in the air and said That's it, I'm leaving! Padma, in the meantime, squeezed his hand again and leaned in again, only to coquettishly move away again. She tugged them both toward the entrance.

Kevin chuckled and blushed a bit more. "Oh dear. I think I'm in trouble." he said with a smile as she tugged him towards the retaurant. He caught up with her and resisted the urge to kiss her cheek. "Well, you asked me if I liked fish, is that what they serve in here?"

Padma glanced up thoughtfully as they reached the door, and said, "Trouble is such a relative term. I prefer to think of it more like a treat than trouble."

Wow, had she really said that? Was this really her? And she hadn't even had anything to drink. She made a mental note right then and there to stick to water or juice or anything that wasn't alcoholic just she she wouldn't do anything to really bugger things up. As she pushed the door open, they were greeted with a mixed chorus of, "Irashaimasei gozaimasu!"

"Well," Padma said, leaning in toward him to say conspiratorially, "fish prepared in ways you've probably not even imagined. No worries, though, they have all sorts of things here."

Kevin looked around and quirked his brow. "Definitely foreign." he commented, blushing a little. "Well, after the taxi, I'm ready for any kind of adventure tonight." he told her, winking at her as he grinned.

As Padma looked around, she was a little dismayed to find the main dining room rather full for a Monday evening, she thought. It was a little noisy, and Padma feared for their ability to be able to converse easily. However, before her anxieties could really take hold, a rather handsome middle aged Japanese woman approached them and asked, "Two?", and then escorted them to an upstairs dining area that Padma hadn't even known existed.

It was much emptier up there, and therefore a lot more quiet. Most of the tables were lit with one low candle, and the lights appeared to be dimmed. Padma almost grinned; it couldn't have been any more perfect if she had actually planned it that way. They were shown to a table and offered small warm moistened towels.

Despite the heat outside, it felt wonderful against her hands. Smiling faintly toward Kevin, she inclined her neck and smoothed the cloth over her skin, sighing as she did.

Kevin smiled at the man and sat down, accepting the towel but didn't do much with it. Instead he looked over at Padma and bit his lower lip as his breath caught in throat. So much nice skin was shown..

Of course he had noticed before, but now her neck was inclined and he really appreciated the view.

Padma paused for a moment, the unfamiliar feeling of a particular sort of gaze on her. She looked toward Kevin and realised that it was him, after which she promptly dropped the towel. It landed on the floor next to her chair where she let it sit for a few seconds as she struggled to bring the colour in her cheeks down to a bit more respectable flesh-like tone, as opposed to the vermilion that it currently was.

She abandoned the quest shortly, however, upon recognizing the fact that she had no such control over herself- well, at least in regards to her blushing, that is. She smiled at him, instead, and cleared her voice. "I've known you for over eight years now," she said, "and I don't think I've ever stopped to ask you where you're from- your family and such. Did you grow up anywhere near London?"

Kevin licked his lips and blushed darkly as he realised he was staring at her and he took a sip of the glass of water he had in front of him. "Actually, my family lives in Hogsmeade. Dad built a house when he got married with Mum and they raised both Bradley and I there. Mum still lives there with Brad." he told Padma, then shrugged. "There isn't much to say. I love Hogsmeade. It's quiet."

"Mum is a Medi-witch at St.Mungo's. And Bradley's a full trained Auror now." Kevin shifted, realising he had been talking very fast, as if he thought it didn't matter and would prefer to be talking about something else. "But I'd much prefer to hear about your family. Do you have any other sibling than Parvati?"
