Michael had been spending too much time at home. It wasn't unusual to come home from training, take a kip on the couch, grab a sandwich, and head up to his room to do his required reading. His housemates hadn't been around tonight, so he headed out on his own.
He opened the doors at Utopia and waited for a moment for his eyes to adjust to the dim light. It didn't take as long as it had used to, so he knew his eye was getting better. Tracey Davis was busy behind the bar, so he just gave her a brief wave and scanned the room to see if anyone else was about.
He noticed Turpin playing billiards by herself. Maybe Terry was in the loo. He walked up behind her, waited for her to line up her shot, and then greeted her loudly.
A sudden loud voice from behind her caused Lisa to jump enough that she nearly fumbled her shot. Luckily, though, it was one that was simple enough for her to make it despite her aim being slightly off. "Bloody hell, Corner," she said, brandishing the cue stick at him. "Don't you know better than to sneak up on a girl when she's holding a large stick?"
She lowered the stick, putting one hand on her hip. "And everything's my game. Or haven't you figured that out yet?"
Michael held up his hands as Turpin waved her cue at him. "Merlin, Turpin, glad you aren't playing darts, or you may have pierced me in the forehead." He shook his head. "That would have not been on, Turpin."
"Everything's your game, Turpin? Meet me tomorrow morning at the pitch in the park. We'll see if everything's your game." He looked around. "You here by yourself?"
"I'm sure you'd have managed some handy little shield charm or whatever it is they have you Auror blokes learning for so many hours during the week." Michael challenged her to meet him in the park, and Lisa glared at him, mumbling, "Bloody Quidditch. It's not even a real sport."
Then she sniffed playfully. "All alone." Nodding toward the bar, she added, "I came to have a drink and talk to Tracey for a bit, but it's far too busy for her right now. So here I am. What about you? No hot date?"
Lisa grinned and slid her empty glass to the far side of the bar, trying to decide if she wanted another or not. It was the weekend, but drinking alone wasn't nearly as fun.
"Things are great. You look like you're keeping busy tonight." She chuckled a little. "They ever let you leave this place? Haven't seen you in awhile."
"Nope, they've taken to making me sleep in the kitchen between shifts," she said dryly, sending her boss a glare down the bar.
"Actually, I'm picking up extra shifts so I can take off the rest of August," she wiped down the bar and looked around for anyone who needed refills. "I can't deal with not having a summer holiday."
Lisa laughed, rolling her eyes a little for Tracey's benefit "You're taking a holiday? Where to?"
Her head wasn't at all fuzzy from the alcohol, but the other's question put her mind back to the previous night, and that was intoxicating by itself. She shrugged, hoping that she wasn't actually smiling as widely as it felt like she was. "Working, spending time with Terry, lunch with my family...which reminds me--beach party on the 31st. You up for it?"
