Katie was having an excellent morning. On Monday, she'd spotted an ad in the Daily Prophet for officials for the Quidditch League. She'd gone in for a preliminary interview and this morning they'd owled her to ask her to come in for a second round interview on Wednesday. It was so sudden, maybe a bit too sudden and she wasn't sure she was quite ready for it, but she needed to find a job, and this was as close as she'd get to playing Quidditch for a living. Plus it was a lot more stable, she didn't have to go on the road and the pay was quite good

"Hello," Marcus said, determined that he wouldn't be the one who made a scene. He didn't talk about peoples private business in public. He went back to choosing his steak. Instead Marcus just stood there for a moment, staring down a the meat as he thought of what Tracey had said to him and the owl he had got from Adrian.
"So," he said, trying to sound polite. "I hear you've been talking to Tracey Davis? I didn't know you were friends with any Slytherins?"
Marcus smiled a tight sort of a smile and waved the packet of steak in Katie's direction.
"Oh, not just me. She was so kind as to mention it to Pucey too."
He realised he was getting a funny look from an old woman with a large tweed handbag and put the meat in his basket.
"She told me a few things," he said, half tempted to drag this out. Then he saw the look on her face. Adrian would have a field day if he knew he was going this soft.
"Maybe we should talk about this somewhere else," Marcus sighed.
It looked like he was going to have this conversation, he might as well hold it in private. Didn't want to give the Hogsmeade gossips any more to work with than they already had.

"I'm not. I mean, I thought bartenders were supposed to listen and you know. Not repeat it? Like priests?" Katie groaned. "What did she tell you?"
At least if Katie knew what he'd heard she could try and deal with it. Even though she had no bloody clue how to deal with this.
