It was sort of pathetic to be owling a friend on a Saturday night, but Eloise didn't fancy pretending she'd been doing anything much lately. Plus, it wasn't like she was being coy or whatever. She hadn't really left her flat much all week, and had spent all day sitting around and trying not to feel sorry for herself. One year since her dad died- okay. Now it was time to get over the sadness. She knew that on her own, and didn't need that annoying voice that sounded annoyingly like Meg to remind her.
She had been writing owls to family members when she suddenly wondered how the first few weeks of Auror training had gone for Ron. Grabbing an extra sheet of parchment, she scribbled a quick note and sent it off.
Dear Ron,
How are you? I assume you've been Missing In Action because of top secret Auror training adventures. It is wonderfully exciting? What am I saying, of course it is. At any rate, I thought I'd just write to say hi. It's been awhile, and I still owe you oodles of baked goods for your birthday. No, I'm not sending you any now. Sorry. The whole point is you have to cash in your silly little vouchers. See what I did there? Accountability. Maybe I should've been a teacher after all.
Anyway, I know Fleur is about a breath away from popping the little one out, but if you are free sometime soon we should hang out.
Hoping you're still alive,
Eloise
