The roof wasn't the new park, but it was a good place for a picnic. The park had been lovely. Hermione had enjoyed walking through it and seeing all the flowers and trees in bloom. She and Harry had taken along a picnic lunch to eat, but that had been the plan before they reached the middle of the park and saw the memorial.

In a detached sort of way, she could appreciate that the memorial was beautiful. The craftsmanship was amazing, and she was curious about the magic used to make it work. However, it had been difficult to remain distanced while observing it when she had been taken back to that awful morning in May. Watching the statue of Harry facing then defeating Voldemort was jarring, and she had felt too many things while staring at it.

Harry had been uncomfortable immediately. He hadn't known about the memorial or expected it, either, and she had held his hand tightly when they discovered it. There had been a lot of people at the park, so the attention was pretty normal, but with that statue there, it had seemed like everyone was staring at Harry and whispering. They hadn't stayed long after seeing it, forgetting about picnics and broom races as they just came home.

When Harry had shrugged off her concern, she had let him go up to his room while she'd gone downstairs for a session with Sam. After beating the punching bag until her arms hurt, she felt better. There were still memories of the battle in her mind, fresher than usual after watching that statue of Harry defeat Voldemort, but she wasn't as emotional as she'd initially been.

She took a quick shower before she found their discarded picnic basket. Harry had had time to sit alone, but he needed to eat, and she worried about him being alone after seeing the memorial. It had caused her to react, so she couldn't imagine how he might feel after seeing it. Even if it was a wonderful memorial, it had been startling and brought back memories. She took the picnic basket to the roof and arranged everything for them. A comfortable blanket, nice pillows, and good food might help Harry feel better about things.

After getting the picnic set up, she went downstairs and knocked on Harry's door. "Harry, it's me," she said softly.
