Date: Wednesday, June 7, 1998 Characters: Hermione Granger, Ollivander, Dean Thomas Location: Ollivander's shop Status: Private Summary: Hermione stops by to check on Mr. Ollivander Completion: Incomplete
Dean had felt wrong more than he could say since the war had finished. He had assumed it was just the way everything had changed. The deaths and funerals and desruction had taken it's toll on everyone. It had taken Seamus asking him why the hell he hadn't been drawing much recently before he realised. Dean had lost his sketchbook when the snatchers had got him and Griphook. He had not wanted to risk getting a new one since then, losing it had been a lot worse than he had expected

By the time she reached the Leaky Cauldron, Hermione was tired. She'd walked the entire way, which was much further than she'd expected. She could have Apparated, but it seemed silly to make such an effort when a walk would probably do her some good. Still, she was relieved to approach Diagon Alley.
The sound of someone calling her name was surprising. She turned to look, smiling when she saw Dean walking towards her. He was carrying a package and had obviously been out shopping. "Good afternoon, Dean. Shopping?"
It was good to see Hermione smile when she saw him and he smiled back. "Yes, I just got myself a new sketchbook." He considered telling her the last one had been taken by Snatchers, but that would have brought a fug on the conversation. "What about you?"
It was stange to be standing still in such a centre of movement. It made Dean feel out of place in this place between worlds. "Are you going in or coming out?" He said, knowing he probably sounded rediculous, but hopefully anyone who heard him did not think he was being strange.
"A new sketchbook? That's good news," she said, judging by his reaction that his old one had been lost during the previous year. "I've always admired your talent at sketching. My creativty doesn't lend itself to artistic measures."
It was nice to see Dean. They'd talked a little during their time at Shell Cottage, and he, more than most, probably understood her inability to really connect with some of their old friends yet. He hadn't been at Hogwarts for school, either. "Going in," she told him. "I'm actually planning to visit Mr. Ollivander. He's back at his shop now, though it's not open, of course. You going in?"
