Katie walked the path from Hogwarts, gazing at the ragged stumps where a few of the great trees once stood and lived. Now she entered Hogsmeade with two tasks on her mind - lunch and some hand salve.
Wringing her hands slowly, she kept her eyes lowered to the weather. Katie didn't eavesdrop on the people that passed her - just walked and tried to draw up a mental list of the things she would do once she returned to Hogwarts and that she should return to her parents home to search for her broom since she did not have enough money for a new one.
There was a stubborn thought in the back of her mind - knocking softly to the point of annoyance. Katie shook her head and ventured further down the path, looking at the shop windows in hopes of finding the apothecary...
