Still, he'd been looking forward to this exam, and the written paper was done already. Now they were queuing to go into the final examination, and he had very little to do but wait for his name to be called out.
He didn't even notice it at first, and when he did believe what he was seeing, he could do very little to conceal his own disbelief. Longbottom sharing chocolate with Pansy?! Or even Pansy accepting food from Longbottom?! It was unreal...more than unreal. It was sheer madness He moved along to stand beside the door, so that he could get a better look without being too obvious about it, horrified at what he was witnessing. It was like watching a doormouse eating dinner with a viper!

She popped the bit of chocolate in her mouth, closing her eyes and moaning a little as she finished it rather quickly. She opened her eyes, looking sheepishly at Neville. "I may have skipped lunch."

Neville bit down on his tongue a bit to distract himself from that little moan-thing she did and he looked away. Seamus was definitely going back on the dead man list for putting ideas in his head because there was no way, he could not think about Pansy like that after seeing -- and hearing -- her reaction to the chocolate. He might have been able to pass it off a week ago, but not now. It was becoming clear to Neville that, yes, he probably did fancy her.
Finally catching what she said, Neville frowned. "May have? Or did?"

"Did," she said looking away. "But I had a big breakfast, and I can never eat when I'm nervous. I got sick once before a recital. Ruined my dress and everything." Not that Neville needed to hear that of course.
She reached over and rubbed her thumb on his chin, noticing a bit of chocolate there. "You had chocolate on your face," she said dumbly, feeling her face heat up after such an intimate gesture. Stupid. She needed to be concentrating on defense, not on her friend's chin.

"Okay. Not my job to look after you, anyway. It's good to know you won't be going in without energy to back up your spells, though." A big breakfast and a bit of chocolate should be enough. He really wanted her to do well. Pansy had been working hard. "Try to eat the rest of that though," he pointed and gave her a wink.
"Thanks," he said as she rubbed his chin. He took his wand and cast a spell on top of it to make sure it was all gone. Then cast it on her hand too. "Don't want you all sticky because of me."
