Summary: Before the evening meal, Minerva has a few words for the volunteers, then makes the rounds.
Completion: Complete
Minerva had directed the elves to make sure some sort of simple food and drink was available in the Great Hall at all times, but full meals were served at scheduled times. She felt that this would encourage regular breaks and provide social interaction for those that needed it. It also gave Minerva the opportunity to make announcements and be available for those who might wish to speak with her. This evening, she had several items she wished to discuss with the assembled volunteers and castle residents.
As the volunteers filled the Great Hall for dinner, Minerva tapped her knife against her goblet and stood. "Ladies and gentlemen, once again, I would like to thank you all for your efforts on behalf of Hogwarts. Without each and every one of you, we would not be nearly as far along in our cleanup and repair efforts. Your diligence and cooperation are greatly appreciated by myself and the entire staff.
"Thanks to your efforts, the debris has now been cleared from the ground floor and structural repairs are underway. Many of the cracked panes of glass have been repaired, and while there is still a large number to go, there are far fewer broken than there were two weeks ago. Replacement of the missing panes will begin this weekend after the new glass arrives. The door to the courtyard and the courtyard itself will be used by those working on the glass replacement. I must ask that those of you not assisting with glass repairs limit your use of the ground floor corridor and door leading out into the courtyard.
"Next, Professor Sprout tells me that the debris in the greenhouses is almost completely cleared and replanting continues. Professor Hagrid would welcome anyone who had been working on clearing the greenhouses to assist in clearing debris from the grounds if you prefer to work outside the castle. The usable stones are curently being moved to an area near Ravenclaw Tower for use in the structural repairs that will begin there next week."
Minerva continued, "I know that many of you are anxious to get both Ravenclaw and Gryffindor Towers back into use. I certainly understand and empathize with the desire that many of you have to either return to your own House, or in the case of our 6th and 7th year students who are here as volunteers, to have access to their belongings. My empathy with the desire to return to these damaged dormitories does not mean that the staff and I will look the other way to exploration of these off limits portions of the castle. I cannot stress to you all enough the importance of following the direction of the staff and others placed in charge of the various areas being cleaned and repaired. When you explore where you should not be, you place not only yourself, but others, in danger. Thoughtless exploration of areas deemed off limits not only costs us your time which could be spent on the tasks we most need completed, it can lead to lost time by others who must abandon their cleanup efforts to perform searches, and by Madam Pomfrey who is already tasked to her limit when she is needed to heal injuries sustained by the rescued and rescuers. We have limited volunteer activity to those of age, except in a few circumstances. My expectation is that if you are in the castle, you are here as an adult and will conduct yourself as a responsible one." There had been too many preventable injuries the past week, Minerva did not wish to restrict student aged volunteers if it could be helped, as many of them were among her most productive volunteers, but she could not have them thinking like students sneaking about without any thought for the consequences.
"Finally, this evening, I realize that many of you have been anxious about your own and your children's O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. testing, which had to be postponned for obvious reasons. There will be an official announcement sent to all students and their parents soon. I thank you for your patience in this matter while Hogwarts and the Ministry Examinations Board have been in discussions regarding this situation.
"Again, I thank you all for your valuable help and assistance. Enjoy your meal and I will be remaining in the Great Hall after dinner if anyone has matters they need to discuss." Minerva sat down and the food appeared on the tables.
