The visit home had been fun. Eddie had a new game he got at Christmas, one that he could win already, so Wayne had had his arse kicked by his younger brother repeatedly. That part hadn't been too fun, but it was always nice to learn a little humility, even if it was at the hands of a ten year old. He'd also had a talk with Helen, though that hadn't gone as well since she wanted to know about Easter hols, and he just wasn't sure yet what to say. Still, the family had been in good spirits, and he'd had a good meal before coming home ( ... )

"It was a very trying experience, I must say, Mr. Hopkins. Fending for myself usually is," she sighed.

"How are you on this chilly Sunday?" she asked, smiling warmly. She hadn't spoken with Wayne in quiet some time, but she had enjoyed his company before. He was an odd sort of bloke, but very sweet.

He smiled. "Doing well. Not that cold out. Least, not to me so much. How are you? Taking a break from revision like me?"

"I suppose you're right, Wayne." She added a pepper to her basket.

"I'm almost always cold. Feel free to make a cold blooded joke," she said, waving her hand. "I set myself up for that one."

She nodded. "Yes, that and my coin purse is dreadfully empty from eating at the Ministry and out elsewhere lately. It's time I rejoined the world of responsible adults and made myself useful. Are you almost prepared? For NEWTS of course. Is there anything else to talk about these days?" she snorted.
