Hestia stood in front of her fireplace, floo powder in hand. She really couldn't put this off any longer. It'd been over a week since she'd received Declan Rafferty's owl asking if she'd be interested in working at a Quidditch tournament that would be taking place at Hogwarts. Hestia was eager to be involved; despite her aversion to Quidditch, it meant she'd get to spend some time back at the castle. Dedalus was teaching there now, and of course she'd love to catch up with Poppy and Minerva.
The problem was in the second part of his letter. The part that asked her to speak to Gwenog about participating. Having Gwenog on board would be good for the tournament and bring in a lot of outside interest, Declan had argued, and Hestia knew he was right. She just didn't want to ask her sister for a favour. But it was time to stop being selfish, Declan's friend was waiting to hear from her after all.
"Hello? Gwennie?" Hestia called when she stepped through the floo into Gwenog's flat. After a few moments, Gwenog stepped into the living room. She looked like she'd been finishing up a work out.
"Hestia?" She said, a bit surprised. "Why - is something wrong with mum and dad?"
"No, no, they're fine," Hestia reassured her quickly. "I came to ask you a favour, actually."
Gwenog stared at her for a moment and then laughed. She turned and walked out of the living room, returning a few moments later with two apples, one of which she threw to Hestia. "Wow, you must be pretty desperate, Hessie," she said, biting into her apple.
Hestia forced herself to ignore the nickname and continued, rolling her apple nervously in her hands. "It's not really for me. Someone I used to work with at Mungo's, his little sister's best mate's organizing a Quidditch tourney to raise money for Hogwarts. They need an on-site healer, which is why he contacted me, but he also wanted to know if you'd participate as well. It'd help sell tickets and get other pros on board," she added, appealing to her sister's rather healthy ego.
Gwenog chewed thoughtfully. "Well, seeing as it's for Hogwarts, I don't reckon why not. And the publicity will be really good. I can maybe do autograph sessions with the kids or something for the Prophet," she mused. "Give away tickets to Harpies games. Is Sluggy still there, d'you know?"
"Yeah, he's still teaching, last I heard," Hestia said, biting into her apple.
"Alright. I'm in. What the hell. Only if this thing is half-arsed, just a bunch of students trying to get me in to play with them, no Prophet or nothing, I'm pulling out. Clear?"
"Very. Thanks," Hestia said, but Gwenog had already left the room.
