The arrangements had been made for tomorrrow during her break, so Hermione was in a good mood. There was always a slight worry that Harry wouldn't like his gift, but he'd always liked anything he got, so she wasn't that concerned. True, this was a lot different from a planner, but she felt pretty positive about it.

Work had gone okay, though Hornby was tense this week, most likely from the Carrow trial. He wasn't working directly on it, but it seemed to have caused a lot of stress in the department. She was worried how her friends were handling it, those who had endured Carrow's reign last year, but she wasn't sure how many of them were even following the trial.

She was nearly at the lift after work when she heard someone call her name. She glanced over her shoulder to see Pansy walking towards her. "I'm doing well. How are you, Pansy?"

"Fine thank you. Are you heading home? I was going to grab something to eat, if you'd like to join me," she said as they entered the lift.

"Are you looking forward to Christmas?"

"You're inviting me to dinner?" She looked at Pansy and considered it before she nodded. "That would be nice, thank you. Did you have anywhere specific in mind?"

"I am. It'll be nice to celebrate without worries of war or thoughts of it possibly being the last Christmas I experience," she said matter-of-factly, stepping onto the lift when the doors opened. "Are you handling the holidays well enough?"

"I am," she said with a smile. "How does that Italian place sound? I've only eaten there once, but it was delicious."

"Yes, that will be a nice change," she said, wondering if her parents worried this would be their last Christmas. It wasn't as if they were going to be executed, but she questioned their ability to make it out of Azkaban alive.

She shrugged. "As well as can be expected. It's hard not to get in the spirit of things when everyone is cheery. Aside from the MLE."

"Really?" Hermione wasn't expecting to have somehow inspired Pansy, but she was glad to hear excitement that wasn't audible when Pansy talked about law.

"I don't know the place, but I've never had any need for event planning." She shook her head slightly, aware of just how huge the social gap between her and Pansy was but not really paying it much attention until conversations like this brought it to mind. "Maybe he'll be willing to take on an apprentice or intern or something. I think you'd enjoy doing that sort of work."

She finished her breadstick as her salad arrived. "This looks good." She picked up her fork and looked at Pansy. "How have you been enjoying the time off from class?"

"We'll see. Like I said, I don't want to give up the idea of Law altogether, just put it off for awhile. Then if I am still interested, well, I can figure it out eventually." She smiled as their salads arrived.

"I'm trying to work at Hogwarts as much as I can. I think I'll go crazy if I just sit around the house. It is definitely nice to not deal with revision and assignments. Aside from the extra studying anyway," she said. "How about you?"

"That makes sense. It doesn't hurt to learn a new skill and give yourself time to decide if law is right for you. It takes years of intense study to pursue that career, so it wouldn't be something you'd want to commit to until you know for sure it's what you want."

She ripped off part of a breadstick to eat with her salad. "I worked there earlier this week, since I won't be going in tomorrow. Otherwise, I've spent my mornings revising and getting ready for Christmas. It's been nice, in a way, having time to do random things without having to go to class."

She nodded. "My thoughts exactly."

"Yes, I can understand that. It's funny to think that in two months we'll be done with Hogwarts, isn't it?" she asked as their food arrived.

"I go from being excited to nervous and depressed very quickly when I think about no longer being a student."
