Sunday was the best day of the week. It was the day that Hermione looked forward to now, that she used as a goal to get her through any difficult days. This week, it had kept her focused during work and when she was revising in the evenings. Having seven subjects was starting to become more work, as they reached the last weeks of their courses, and she was having to spend more time on her classes while not at school. She had a feeling it would just get worse before NEWTs, so she wanted to enjoy her Sunday mornings with Harry ( ... )

Harry stuck his hands into his pockets when he reached Hermione's table, because otherwise he was going to do something like touch her somewhere. Maybe her shoulder, or hair. He wasn't particular. But it wasn't a good idea, so. Pockets.

"Hey Hermione," he said, returning her smile. "You ready? I can get your coat, or something."

"Good morning, Harry. How are you?" she asked, looking up at him as he reached her table. "Yes, I'm ready. Well, I will be in a minute. I need to straighten up my notes. If you'd like, you could get my coat. It's in my bedroom, on the back of my desk chair. I'll meet you in the hallway."

She put her quill down and fastened the lid on her inkwell before she straighted up her notes. Once she was finished, she got up, scratched Crookshanks behind the ears, and then went out to meet Harry. "Ready now. Did you want to walk around here or go somewhere else?"

Nodding, Harry left the room and crossed the hall, pushing open the door to Hermione's room and going in. He found her coat over the back of the chair, where she'd said it would be, so he grabbed it quickly, along with the scarf that was there as well, then doubled back to meet her in the hallway.

He held her coat out when she came out of the library. "Around here's fine," he said. "I mean. I suppose it doesn't matter. Where d'you want to go?"

She leaned into him when he put his arm around her shoulders, which wasn't a good idea, in retrospect, because she could smell him. Smelling him distracted her and made her think about things she had to put out of her mind. He dropped his arm back down and took her hand again as they continued walking.

"Well, yes, I know I did but that isn't as important as you nearly dying," she said matter-of-factly, watching him rub his chest where she knew the scar was. She wondered if he felt pain there sometimes like she did in her arm, even when she knew it wasn't real.

When he mentioned what she'd done for his parents, she felt him squeeze her hand. "Maybe we can go back this year, to visit again. We can leave with better memories than we had last time we left," she murmured. "We'll make this Christmas the best yet. And we'll want to enjoy it because, after the holidays, we'll have to start revising every spare moment to be ready for NEWTs."

"Why not?" Harry replied quickly. "Means a hell of a lot more to me."

Hermione mentioned them going back to Godric's Hollow at Christmas this year, and he looked at the ground as he thought about it. The first time she'd mentioned going back, he'd not been ready to talk about it at all, and had barely even responded. He wasn't sure if he was any more ready now, because he'd not really taken the time to take stock of things, but -- with her there, it might be okay. He glanced back up. "Okay," he said quietly.

He nodded. "Not looking forward to studying nonstop," he winced, "which means Christmas will probably be over really soon."

"Just because," she said, knowing that wasn't a real reason but not knowing exactly how to reply. "It's a personal issue, I think ( ... )

"Yeah?" It sounded like a good idea to him, doing some practical revising. It was such a big room, anyway -- perfect for defence practice. "I like that idea. That's what the ballroom's for, so it's a good place to bring people. I mean, we can't get much done in the NEWT common room, not practical stuff."

At her question, he smiled a bit. "Bit paranoid," he teased, "but not horrible. No, seriously, there's nothing wrong with that. Direct access, and everything. And if we want to bring people downstairs, to the game room or whatever, nothing stopping us. I mean, it's our house so it's our decision; one of us might be doing private things, I dunno." He shrugged.
