While it wasn't officially winter yet, Mother Nature seemed to disagree. It was snowing in Hogsmeade, the first snow of the season, and the flakes were large and fluffy and very pretty. Certainly pretty enough to distract Cho, who'd been sitting at the desk in her room at #12 Hornbeam Court far too long this weekend. She had considered going to see the Weird Sisters, but by the time she tried to buy a ticket, the concert was sold out, so she spent Saturday evening writing letters to her parents and brothers, whom she hadn't seen in longer than she could remember. Her parents, who were Chinese immigrants, would be celebrating First Snow on November 22nd; if Cho weren't still in school they would expect her to visit them, but this year, at least, she simply had too much revising to do to consider popping over to Glasgow to see the family this weekend. Besides, Christmas was approaching quickly; she'd be visiting in a few weeks, with gifts for everyone.
Today, though, Cho had already spent several hours revising and she was simply tired of it. and tired of being cooped up inside - and she loved snow. She hoped that walking to the park might cheer her up. At Hogwarts she'd learned how to lie in the snow and make a snow angel and how to roll up balls of snow to make snow men. She bundled up in her long, heavy cloak, enjoying the walk despite the cold, every now and then leaning back and catching snow flakes on her tongue. As she reached the park, she looked round in wonder at the blanket of snow covering everything in the park. It really was beautiful.
