And if I were a tree growing tall and green, all I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves. )
He'd sort of expected her to answer the door. In his mind, not that he'd been thinking too much about this, he had come to the door, Luna had been there, smiling and looking nice in that way she always did, and he had met her father. The meeting had consisted of his waving and saying 'nice to meet you, Mr. Lovegood' while not sounding like an idiot. Then Mr. Lovegood had shaken his hand and then they'd left. In his mind, it had all gone down in about a minute.
There hadn't been tea, or sitting, or talking, or Luna not even in the room.
Greg shifted in his seat, trying not to squirm or sweat at all. Mr. Lovegood really seemed like a nice bloke, very friendly and, well, Luna-like in some ways. And he wasn't looking like he wanted to hex Greg for taking Luna out, or for being a Death Eater's son.
It was still weird. This was Luna's father, who had wanted to meet him. Greg cleared his throat and nodded, his hand jolting slightly against the cup and saucer as Mr. Lovegood made some exclamation about Plimpies and caught him off-guard. "Uh, right," Greg said, nodding and clearing his throat. Just then, Luna came to the kitchen door, and he was out of his chair like a shot.
Blimey. She looked ... just ... good.
He resisted the urge to tug on his tie, considering how long it had taken to get it to not look stupid, as he looked at her, nodding dumbly when she told him he looked dashing and darted back upstairs to get something. It wasn't long before she was back, smiling and then standing close and then touching his suit jacket, pinning something onto it.
It wasn't until she'd finished attaching it and showed him her earrings that he realised he'd yet to say a word. "You look nice," he blurted before adding, "and um, thanks, for this. 's nice. We're matching now." Ducking his head, he thought about the corsage he'd bought yesterday with Neville's help.
"Got you something too," he told her, carefully opening the container carrying the bright and odd-looking snapdragons that had made him think of her for some weird reason. "D'you mind? I could pin it on, or you could wear it on your arm."

"Oh, Daddy, look, he found me snapdragons," she said, waving her dad over. Xeno inspected it and nodded, smiling slightly. "I'll wear it on my wrist, I think. Did you know that I liked these? Thank you, Greg," she said, and allowed him to slip it onto her wrist.
"Are we going to Apparate there?" she looked between Greg and Daddy, not wanting to floo in her white dress.
Xeno nodded, "That's a good idea. Off you get, kids, you don't want to be late," he said, beginning to usher them out the door. Luna slipped her arm through Greg's, smiling widely, excited to dance with him.
"It's nice that you chose a Muggle suit," she murmured as they stepped out the door. "Bye, Daddy! See you there, we'll have to dance when you're not too busy!" She watched as Greg and Daddy bid farewell, and looked up at Greg, wondering if they should side-along or go separately and hope that they ended up in the same area.

He paused. "I mean, not like they look like you. Just, sort of seemed like your thing."
"Anyway. I could Apparate us both, 'f you want," he said quickly, in answer to her question. He glanced down at her when they got outside and she linked her arm through his. Was kind of nice.
"Okay," he told her, "ready? Haven't been there before, so 'm just going to take us to Diagon." He shut his eyes then, and focused.

"Yes, do go ahead," she said, stepping a bit closer as she wasn't sure if he'd ever side-along Apparated anyone, looking back once more to smile at her dad, who was watching from the window. He probably simply needed to gather his equipment before he flooed to the Morgana. "I've never been there, either."
He Apparated them to Diagon Alley, and she opened her eyes and took a step back from him, still keeping her arm in his. She hoped he didn't mind. "Looks like we're not too far," she said, motioning to a few groups of well-dressed wizards heading in the opposite direction. She kicked a pepple and smiled faintly, feeling nearly giddy. "Shall we?"

"I see it," he told her, and her small smile seemed to be quite contagious. He was going to a ball. With Luna Lovegood. As friends, of course, but still. "Yeah," he murmured, starting forward. Here went nothing, he supposed. "Let's go inside."
