George was on a ladder, stringing up a Hallow'een decoration when the chime on the door went off. "Be with you in a minute," he called over his shoulder, attaching a sticking charm. "Have a look around ( ... )

Draco held his ground, trying very much not to glare at George. "If your family was in danger," he said, feather lightly, "I think you might have reevaluated your options, too."

He stepped forwards, boldly, off the welcome mat and onto the shop floor, squaring his shoulders. It felt like he was fighting a battle already; one he was determined to win. "I'm here to buy things, Weasley -- just like anyone else. Or perhaps you're going to expel me simply because of my name." He narrowed his eyes, and stepped forwards again, not breaking his gaze from the other for even a second.

George may be many things, but he was older, damned good with a wand, and had a short temper. As bold as Draco might be, he was also careful. "May I browse without the threat of being hexed...or physically attacked?"

The very last thing George had expected was an explanation, and he didn't quite know how to reply. It was apparent that Malfoy wasn't completely comfortable walking inside, though he did it.

He chuckled softly, tapping his wand against his thigh. He must have really wanted something here, and George's curiosity was piqued. "If I was going to expel you, it wouldn't be for your name, it would be for your sparkling personality. And I don't think you'll be making the mistake of insulting my Mum again, will you?" he added, a note of warning in his voice.

"I'll think about it," he answered, uncoiling slightly, but not letting down his guard. He may as well have walked straight into the Gryffindor Common Room, for the comfort he felt right now. It might have been easier if the shop was busier...but work kept him occupied during the busiest parts of the day.

Very carefully he moved towards the shelves, careful to avoid the darkness powder this time. He still didn't look - his eyes were on George; still wary, still watching what he was doing. He picked up one of the objects to one side of him and moved it into his line of sight, eyes flickering briefly to it to read. Daydreaming...well, maybe it would help him sleep.

"You can stop watching me like I'm about to set fire to something," he drawled, after a moment, and turned away, watching out of the corner of his eye for any sign of sudden movement.
